Whats your opinion on wether or not a heavy duty input shaft is needed with a SBC Fe clutch and 500-550 rwhp. Is the heavy input shatft just needed with the dual disc? Thanks Travis

If you're going to be pulling or drag racing... my answer would be a definite 'yes'.

It's a lot of bread to spend ($850 last time I checked... ), but I can't think of anyone who has broken the upgraded 1-3/8" input shaft of either an NV-4500/5600.

Plenty of people have broken the OEM NV-4500 and smaller NV-5600 input shafts.

Are you going to address the mainshaft, 5th gear issues as well?

Matt

Okay... since you've addressed some of the NV-4500's shortcomings... . what do you plan on doing with the truck?

If you're pulling, you'll probably break the OEM input shaft in no time. Like I said... I haven't heard of anyone breaking an 1-3/8" input shaft.
