I am thinking about getting some injectors. I tow heavy (20,000# + truck (7000#)). Can I run DD2s with a boost elbow and boost fooler and not have EGT problems? What can I expect with EGTs? Should I just go with DD1s?

The whole point is that I want to be able to tow heavy without having to back off on the count of EGTs getting out of hand. I also don't plan to do any turbo mods / upgrades.

Start with a set of guages. Then an EZ(it comes with the boost fooler and boost elbow) Then a 4" exhaust. If you still need more, then a set of DD1s. I have had an 00,01 and an 02. It works great. All the tow power you need and excellant EGT temps. Good luck!... ... ... . mi dos pesos.

I tow about 15k worth of horses and gear around and have never been above 1100 on my EGT's. I tow over some pretty serious grades and have what I consider an excellent towing combination with my EZ and my DDII's.

I have no problems with my DD2's with big loads and steep grades. I usually run with the Comp off or down low... Doug

I run Comp 1x1 and DD2's. I think it is the best combination I have EVER run across. You can use all of the throttle if you need to. It lets the trubo spool up so you have boost.

I just think it is an EXCELLANT combination.

Sounds like I will be in the market for 2s!

I already have a EZ and gauges installed. I have removed the stock muffler. I love it. If I can have more and tow the big loads, that sounds good. ;) It sounds like what I should do is get 2s and set the EZ on the "Add fuel when boost is high" setting instead of where it is now "Add fuel all the time".

I have DD1's. Get the 2's or maybe even 3's.

The 1's are ok, but make you realize for a few bucks more you have more power available, and its all in how you control your foot.

Plus bigger injectors are easier on your pump than some other options.

With an HX-35/12 (stock turbo), a PE COMP on 5x5, DD1's, Dirty Airfilter, and grossing around 33,000Pounds I hit 1,800*F twice, while accelerating WOT in 3rd and 4th gear. Both times the motor was over 2,700RPM (Drag COMP).

Just an FYI.

BTW: Now, with Mega Mental injectors, a PDR HX40/18, and the same COMP, I can hit 1600* under certain circumstances, but 90% of the time 1450* is the most I see. I have a Stage 1 PDR head and a PDR cam on the way to help out with the EGT.

At what speed were you able to go? What was the altitude?

I have the same question as raswor, but I have to contend with 7% grades for 20 odd miles, and a peak altitude of 10k feet. Is running at a speed of 55mph out of the question with your combination?

rashwor middle setting

Your on the right track, using the middle or number one position on your EZ with the larger injectors. I am running mild injectors RV275 and I see a big differece with the comp 1x2 (extra fuel 10 psi) and 1x5 (extra fuel 0 psi). No wire, stock auto.

I think I will...

be ordering some 2s when I get ready. Thanks to everyone for your input. :)

Merrick, I have to pick at you a little... man, you know how to test a truck well!:D  :D

Believe it or not, with my '40 and DD5's I only see 1,100*F EGT doing donuts.

I've never sled pulled, but the trailer my Dad and I haul around at times can gross our trucks up to 40,000 Pounds at certain times,, don't worry, this isn't on the streets, it's off-road, very rough off-roads. When we are on the streets we usually only gross 27,000 pounds.
