Archived replaced MAP, still got problems

I installed an edge comp no check engine light was on un till I turned the comp up and mashed it I went home and wiggled wires and un plugged the datalink and the light went away durring a fowwing test at WOT it came back on !!! Ive unbplugged the map senor and eveything and the check engine light wont go out !!! Ive even un plugged the comp from the data link and the map and placed my factory map back in to the engine so the only thing exsiting was the pump connection >>>and still the light wont go out ... ... . the batery has been disconnected for all the connections and dis connects and the code wont resetvwhats the deal... . I turned the key on and off three times and where my miles are it says... ... . P1693 please help I need to leave the house
 
WHEN the light went away the first time I beleave it was because it was the 3rd time i shut the truck off and started it it acted fine after that then I got braver and braver then it came back on ????now it will not go out!! I had to leave the house I drove it 15 miles on 3x5 and it ran great but the light is still on ???What caused the light to come on and even if I get it reset @ the dealer whats going to stop it from comming back???



My buddie hooked my box on his truck and it seemed fine ??
 
the way the fuel pump wire goes on is a joke Its a horrible set up if it was possble that I cut threw the fuel pump top wire would this stuff happen or would it not run at all. the connection seems to fit loose it fits but its not on there great . its working because Im smokin and it never used to do that. ive even un hooked it and still the engine light is on can advanced auto check the code or do I have to go to a dealer.
 
It is possible that you've set an overboost code. Get the code read with a scanner at Autozone or somewhere else first before you panic. I've done several times myself. Afterward I removed all connections, cleaned and regreased including the map sensor and boost elbow in case it had built up soot/oil. If it is an overboost code it is passive and will go out in a few days without doing any harm.
 
my brother screwed up and didnt retighten the air intake flex section it threw no code then I drove about a mile before I noticed what the sound was then I tightened it then it threw the code when WOT i reset it some how I think by the truck running then shutting off three times . . I again drove 5 miles before WOT then the check engine light came back and it wont go away. not sure where to start I think Ill just show up @ a dodge dealer in the Am and see if they can get it to go away. but Im scared to turn it in 5 now and even if its just a triped code it missed @ WOT on 5x5 anyway ran like a beast but kind of had real quick cut out then back on kind of thing happening. ??
 
Ive been hittin the archives hard and Im still not sure why it threw the code or why it runs so rough at WOT on 5x5 its either

too small injectors and cant get fuel there

bad pump wire tap

defueling

govener

bad ground

it messed up a 2500 rpm so that should cancel out the gov ..... whats this defueling Ive heard of and could that cause mine to be running like crap???

maybe I should of just got the EZ????



Well Im done for tonight been messin with this sence noon I havent even ate today got a big meet and greet tomarrow and i got to clean my truck up a little and get all this junk straitened out too this sucks!!!!!!!!



tomarrow first thing Im going to a dealer to wipe the code then Ill move the ground wire



if it throws another code I think Ill rig up some kind of new type of connection on the fuel pump wire if it still messes up it'll go back to edge for a test or what ever they do... the thing is it ran fin on my buddies truck I just dont get it ????will the pump run if the wire is broke ATW???
 
If you can wait till the meet and greet I carry a snap on scanner with me and should be able to clear the codes for you,if you want.

I went the the dealer its SAT so its closed !!

advanced auto cannot read codes its only autozone and they will not clear them anyway!!



I got lucky and found a shop open that had a scanner to clear my codes they were p0252 and p0253 anybody know what caused them???



I checked my ground wire and its connected to the same bolt that a stock ground wire connected too so It`s got to be a good ground.



I drove home from the shop on 3x5 and drove like I had brains and it still has no codes ?? is it only going to throw codes when Im in 5x5 WOT ??



I checked the codes when I got home it says PECU then P-done so I guees that means its OK.
 
OK I moved the grd to the battery and un hooked and rehooked the hot wire to the pump it was blowing puffs of smoke with accel in park @ 3x5 so I know the FP wire is hooked I drove it down the end of the drive way than floored it on the highway and bam the CEL is back on :{ I went back to the shop got the code P0253 but not the Po252 code ????I had them reset the code then I turned the comp off and drove home like a maniac and no CEL is on do I have a bad box or what????

Well you guys that was @ the meet Know I was running with comp on and wire untapped with no codes ... . at the meet 2 guys had scanners so I hooked up my pump wire and ran the crap out of the truck behind the stores and no codes came up on 5x5 WOT Power jacking and balling the rubber in reverse I beleave I took a few years out of the trany in about 5 mins. but it would not throw a code ... ... . good or bad well I thought bad I knew as soon as every one left it would throw a code and guess what... ... ... ... I was driving home on 3x5 and I got about 20 miles from BW3 and was going up a small incline and as I fueled BAM the code showed up :{ :{ And the next day was SUN so I was BONED. I tryied the shut off and start up 3 times thing and hoped it'd reset but no dice. I got up today and decided I needed to do something about the pump tap after all it ran fine with the wire untapped and the box on 5x5 no smoke but it didnt throw codes. I really never liked the way the wire was to be tapped according to EDGE .



MY PLAN was to sodder the wire and get the code reset then drive it for a while at diffrent comp settings and see if it still threw codes



Well I was running with codes set on 3x5 On my way down to my buddies house to see his new addition to his family (welcome AMBER JOLINE) I stoped @ sonic and did the normal shut motor off @ drive thru thing when she fired up the code was gone :D :D I immediately turned the comp off and made the trip to his house just S of athens when I got to his house and greated everyone and held the baby I was getting excited about fixing that wire now that no codes were present . . but I had only a socket set I always keep in the truck so... ... ... ... ... ...



LOWES TRIP



I spent $30 on tools I got a soddering iron ,soder,flux,exacto knife (for shaving the wire),little flux brushes,and the wire no/corrode gunk. and electical tape.



WENT back to his house and striped down the truck ripped off that cheap EDGE tapper and shaved the wire and fluxed,and soddered it then put the gunk on the taped ... ... ... ... put every thing back together and went for a ride :eek: :--) what a beast the wire tap must have been cutting thru more wires then it was connecting to... ... I soddered the edge pump wire above and below the crimp marks on the pump wire that the tapper left... . it must of pulled everything together ... . I again took 3 yrs off the trany well maybe 5 and about 10,000 mile out of the tires :-laf ... ... . NO CODES :) and it never ran like this before I think that did it ?????



I just got home I drove 50 miles WOT then dead stop with the box @ 3x3 and... . NO CODES



OH YEAH I MEET some PSD boys @ Mcy D's and I had to go 5x5 and smoke there butts. ... ... NO CODES



Well I think the problem may be fixxed but every one on TDR should know 2 things about the comp box ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....



ONLY GROUND ON THE NEG OF THE BATTERY

SODDER THE PUMP WIRE



This also seemed to clear up the defueling like reaction at 2500 rpm ... . the wire tap must of been working to a point but when the box was sending an extreme amount of power to the injector pump the cheezey tap couldnt take it and hickuped and ran like crap and threw codes.



IF I GET NO CODES IN A WEEK I FEEL THE MODS SHOULD MAKE A STICKY WITH COMP SUGGESTIONS ------IVE BEEN A NEVIOUS WRECK OVER THIS THINKING IT WAS THE BOX OR LIFT PUMP OR EVEN THE INJECTOR PUMP.



THIS PHOTO SHOWS THE FIRST THING THAT SHOULD BE DONE TO THE EDGE COMP... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....



I think Im fixed cant be sure till I get more miles on her ... ... Every thread in the archies that have simiar COMP troubles have no solutions!!!! other than the few that relocated there grd wire from the air horn to the battery.



IF I throw a code then I move on to the next step... Get the code reset and swap bowes for a while if no codes then ... its my box if codes occur then its my lift pump or vp44. I HOPE I DONT HAVE TO ATTEMP THESE STEPS but for anyone who still has troubles and are reading this in the archives thats probly what should be done next and dont be like me get gauges now go to the web site of your choice and get them now!!!! :) I may have seen my FP DROPING ??



AS FOR ME ILL BE CROSSING MY FINGERS AND HOPING MY CODES DONT SET AND IM WAITING ON MY GAUGES

P1693 code is crankshaft senser. I just bought one from a mechanic and it cured mine
 
sorry to hear your trouble,

but good advice for the rest of us, let us know what you get with the gages

i think iam going home and doing the same to my comp box!!

let us know if you notice an increase in Power



the better the splice the more power can flow into the injector pump.



I personally feel that the tapper is not a good conductor because of surface area issues and its also some what dangerious to crip ... . not being sure if its tapped or not plus even the instructions say do not rotate tapper once its tapped this is hard to do because of the location of the pump wire.



I hauled water for dad today 2+ tons at a time (600 gal)- for 5 miles- 6 trips total I used diffrent setting each time and still NO CODES... ... . YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
