I am just getting used to the new CTD after not having a truck for the last 3 years. I picked up a new 08' from a dealer that was forced out of business by Chrysler/Obama. The steal on the price was awesome, but I am really amazed by the performance of this 6. 7. My last two CTD's were 6 speeds, and this is the first auto in a while. With just over 500 miles on the clock, my impressions is... ..... AWESOME! Tons of torque and power, really smooth shifting and the built in jake and electronic shift select is way cool.

Considering I can chirp the tires in 2nd gear, this is one nice truck. And my first MPG check was 16. 4 combined city and highway. Not bad for an 8 foot bed Quad cab. I would expect the MPG to increase a couple miles per gallon after about 10K miles. What have you guys experienced??

Sounds great, congratulations!

I've been totally happy with my '02 - but am scared that the deals available on some like yours might be too good to pass up - so have been avoiding what dealers are left like the plague! :-laf

I know what you mean. I thought I was going to buying a used truck for this price range. This may have been the deal of a lifetime. She is a keeper!

so far my best mpg was 18. 5 on a long run with a average of 75 +mph If you drive it like you Stoled it it will last a long time .

Love mine!! It pulls like an OX and the fuel mileage isn't too bad. esp when you look at at 7K# of the truck. I get 14 to 15 mpg with a 1 ton 4X4, I can't complain.

Love mine as well, 2200 miles in 3 weeks averaging 18. 5 mpg. Better than my wifes Grand Cherokee with a V8 and pulls a loaded car trailer like its not there.

Thanks guys, I am estatic to have a truck again. I am susposed to close escrow on a house in about a week, then I plan to work the wheels off... .....

Sarge,
I know what you mean. They are beautiful machines aren't they? Sounds like we have a close match. I pulled a 28ft TT 2300 miles across country. Gross weight on truck stop scale was 17,746 with me and all the junk I had loaded in the bed and the trailer packed in it. My overhead avg for the whole trip was 14. 3 mpg. Calculated on paper with odometer and fuel slip values was less, around 13. 8mpg. Around town here now (sierra vista AZ) I get about 16-17mpg if I watch my foot. Highway is a big diff though. If I keep speed around 65 mph I can get 25 mpg but then this is pretty flat terrain out here. Recently traveled to Salt Lake UT and back and put on about 2,000 miles. This was mixed city, mountain, canyon driving and deep snow with 4X4 kicked in for part of that and hauling around 5 people in quad cab while there. My total overhead average was 20. 2 mpg! Your mileage will definitely get better. My only problem now is my 6. 7 is making oil and I think it is cause of the DPF emission system. Fuel diluting oil is not a good thing of course. Check your oil levels frequently my friend and shorten up your oil changes if needed. (Changing mine every 3,000miles now). Truck does better the harder you work her. Trust me on that one. Good luck and enjoy! :D MAJOR D

Thanks for the good words Major! I look forward to many rewarding miles with mine. You say you are running around Sierra Vista? I got some property there... ... ... .

Yeah, stationed here with Army at Fort Huachuca. Will be PCSing July 14 so getting short. Retirement looking good after 26 years. Like I said, enjoy the truck but keep a close eye on your oil levels as that is getting to be a big problem. Short trips and multiple unfinished regens of your DPF lead to fuel in the crankcase. Seems like we are shifting blame instead of fixing problem of emissions... . using more fuel to fire the DPF up etc. Who knew? MPG v/s emission control. Jeez. MAJOR D

Rog, I am going for the reflash of the ECM this week to address the regen issue. Congrats on the retirement, I did 25 with LAPD. Retirement is SWEET. Good luck and be careful out there.....

I didn't know you are active duty Army. Thanks for your service! You must have been commissioned as an NCO.

As you know, you'll never get rich wearing the uniform but the retirement years make it all worthwhile. I look back on my Navy service and figure it was one of the smartest things I ever did.

Harvey, I am currently activated reservist. I changed my sig to reflect it now. I have a 13 year break in service. Got out in 74 and got back in 87 to help pay off college loans, total 26 years so far. My MRD is Nov 2010. Might get one more tour in combat zone maybe, not sure. I also was in Navy, 4 years active. E5 2nd Class PO. Did Nam tour. Gulf of Tonkin and in country with NAVSECGRU. Long story. Too many wars or 'police actions'. Tired now. Not sure if it was the 'smartest' thing I ever did but I have done well and I know how to take care of my troops. Heck. . Just want to travel with my wife now. Will get bigger 5th wheel TT probably now that I have a horse to pull it. :-laf Take care. Look forward to your posts on TDR.
