Does anyone have any experience with Hellwig's new HD traction control springs? These are modified overload springs that mount in front of the rear axel on top of the stock spring pack. They are pre-tensioned (installed with the suspension at full droop). I have a pair in my garage waiting to be installed. The U bolts sent with the springs are not big enough to clear the spring pack near the axel. Hellwig is sending me longer ones.

I purchased this spring set because of the horrible axel wrap/hop off road.

Oo. In deep sand in 2X4 the torque really wraps the springs. The offset shocks don't help. This looked like a cheap alternative to full traction bars.

I installed the Hellwig traction control springs this morning. Easy job. I never did get the longer U bolts from Hellwig. They didn't answer a follow up e-mail either. I just got one nut on each side of the rear U bolts to cover the threads. The instructions say you should use two. Now to find some sand to see if it still jumps Oo. around in 2 wheel drive.

On a side note, the instructions require you install the springs with the suspension at full droop. For safety reasons, I used a Hi-Lift jack with the bumper attachment and left the tires on. I now have two indentations in my rear bumper where the jack bent the bumper. The bed was virtually empty by the way. I spaced them out on each side so at least they look like factory lift points. Nice to know I've got a real strong bumper protecting my rear end. Looks like a future mod.
