I get a code 370 & 1693 on my 02 6 speed edge ez stumbles dies etc replaced apps thought that was problem. 2nd vp44 if I rev it after start it keeps ruuning ok seems 2to be getting worse after I changed apps. Keep in mind this truck has only 70000 miles on it. It does it at idle or any rpm when I check it any ideas.

Thanks

P0370 is set by the failure of a speed / position sensor reference signal inside the VP44.

Replacement of the VP44 is the only repair.

Regards,

John L.

Thanks that will make #3 is there a vp44 that is going to last out there anywhere or just keep replacing them every few years.
Thanks
Louie

What are you using for your fuel supply pump, factory lift pump, FASS, AirDog, etc? What fuel pressures are you seeing at the head of the VP?

fass high performance 16 lb @ idle to 12 under load all good there I am reading up on this on blue chip diesel and I think the computer on the pump is probably failing

OK... good. I was trying to figure our why they are failing so quickly for you.

Well I appreciate all the help now to decide which pump on blue chip I like the idea of a 2 year warranty but not $2000+ for a pump so it will have to go to a coin toss
Thanks Again

If the pumps you previously bought before cost more in the $1000 to 1300 range you more than likely were buying a rebuilt pump with a used computer. Thats the only way they can offer them for so cheap. They bench test the electronics and if they pass, your getting someone elses computer (and future headaches). It sounds like this may be whats happened to you this time.

Chip (Blue Chip) is a top notch guy. He knows as much as anybody about the fuel systems in our trucks. Before I purchased my pump from him, i was having electrical issues with my truck that I couldnt figure out.

I couldnt find anybody in my area knowledgeable enough to help me besides the dealer and they wanted to charge me $125 just to look at it. I called Chip out of desperation and he was more than happy to help me. I ended up calling him a few times over the course of a few days, in the end he helped me resolve my issues and never made a buck off me.

His pumps are quite expensive, but one phone call to him and its obvious he knows his stuff. For me thats worth the extra money, I make several long distance trips a year with my truck and honestly do not have any faith in the "bargain pumps". Ive heard of to many failures a year or 2 after purchase.

Is there a code reader that will tell a codes<even soft codes as they say? I have been chasing a bad stumble-miss for over a year now. It would be great if a code would throw and you can replace a part

Last post did not come through. Want to know if there is a reader thAt will read soft codes? I have a stumble that will not go away. It does not happen when cold for the first 30 minutes. Anti lock break always activates.

I have sent an email to chip. I an very confident he is the guy I am looking for.

Thank You all
