Okay, I drove it to work today. Then went home for lunch. On my way back to work, I had to stop at another job site close to home. When I came out, turned the key, I only hear the click of the fuel shutoff solenoid. The starter does nothing. It is the original 179,000 mile starter with Larry B's contacts installed in it a couple of years ago. I also have Larry B's Solenoid saver diode on the starter as well.

What should I be checking for? I tried swapping out the starter relay under the hood with the A/C relay, that made no difference.

Thanks in advance for any advice thrown my way.

Try a jumper wire from the battery to the solenoid on the starter, at least to get her started and you home. . You`d need another guy turning the key as you jump the positive to the solenoid, to kickstart the starter

Could be the ignition switch? hmm. . fusible link?

Your contacts could be burnt even though you changed them... . Maybe try unplugging the shutdown solenoid and seeing if you still hear a click--if you do, its the power solenoid on the starter moving but not actuating the starter. . not good. .

good luck man

I plan to try that tomorrow. I had the truck towed home. Luckily, it was a free tow with the Auto Club. I have a friend coming over tomorrow to help me. I had some ear surgery last Friday and the Doc won't let me do anything that may injure it  It's frustrating, cause normally I would take care of it myself. Yesterday, my wife's suburban had the alternator and batteries go bad, luckily under warranty, but had to pay to get them changed. Well, what can you do? I guess I should just thank God it will be taken care of eventually.

Got it fixed, turns out the LarryB's Starter Saver diode broke internally and wasn't letting power to the the starter solenoid. I removed it but I will call them and see what's up with that.
