If you have the 6 speed and power door locks, does the auto unlock feature work on your truck? On page 19 of my owners manual, it says for the auto unlock feature to work, there are 4 conditions that have to be met.

1. Driver door opened first

2. Auto door lock feature must be enabled (feature that locks all doors at 15 MPH)

3. Doors must have been locked by auto door lock feature

4. Vehicle is in P (park) and the ignition switch is in the off position

When all these conditions are met, all doors will be unlocked. I want this feature to work on my truck. I have tried programming the feature myself first, and it does not work. Took to purchasing dealership last Friday and they hooked their computer up to it and the feature is there, but will not enable on my truck. They called "star" and were told yesterday to try something else. Took it in this morning and now I am told since I have a manual transmission this feature will never work. What I don't understand is if that is true, why did "star" not tell the dealership it is not ever going to work, just tell the customer no? I was told that there may be a future reflash that would provide this capability but for now, nothing.

Help me out, please. If you have a 6 speed and power locks, does it work for you or is it like mine?

Mine seems to be working fine - but passengers must open the door from the inside - I can't go to a passenger door and open it from the outside. Are you trying to open the doors from outside or inside? Maybe that's a 5th condition that must be met?

HOCummins04 : My truck functions just like yours. I've had my truck in the dealership a couple of times and had one of their loaners with the automatic and I paid very close attention to both trucks. The loaner with the automatic did the auto-unlock just fine, but mine with the manual does not.

I figured it was because there is no way to put the manual into "Park" because there isn't one. I tried to get it to work many times, putting the transmission into each and every gear with and without the parking brake set. Nothing has worked. In the loaner it was nice because I could open my door and unlock all others, then the kids could just open their doors and hop out. But with my truck, the kids have to manually unlock their doors before getting out, unless I hit the unlock button first.

Sorry I couldn't tell you how to get it to work, because I'm sure it's not going to unless the software gets changed by DC.

I am trying to open doors from the outside. It seems I never remember to unlock the doors and get out. Then I either have to open the front door again and hit the unlock button, or fish around in my pocket and find the unlock button and press it twice.

Would it work to look for the neutral safety switch being open as the 4th requirement? With the ignition in the off position the truck is not running. Usually as soon as I shut off the engine I let the clutch out.

Anyone think of a downside to this approach? I realize it would require moving heaven and earth to get DC to reprogram this.

Mine does as all these other 6-speeds do: auto-lock works fine, but no auto-unlock. I have always assumed that it just doesn't work because the computer has no idea what gear you're in (like on an auto). I agree that this would be a great feature... but that's the price you pay for the 6-speed.

Well I didn't even know there was an auto unlock feature until I read your post. So I went and tried my 6spd. It is the same as everybody elses 6spd it doesn't function. You don't miss what you don't have in the first place so Iam not bothered. Pete

On my 03/6spd never missed it and did'nt want it. On my 04/48re I will disable it. This way I only have to guard one door from a car-jacker. (So Cal)

The owners manual has the procedure to program the key fob to unlock all doors on one press of the button. You can also disable the auto lock when you start moving. I don't have mine handy, so I can't tell you what page it's on. Bad thing, when you're in CT and your truck is in VA. Sniff, sniff... I miss my truck...

One click locks it, one click unlocks it, two fast clicks unlocks all doors, but nothing works automatic, panic button works too, all with a 6 speed, dont even matter what gear you leave it in, maybe the parking brake has to be set, dunno never checked it!
