hi. a few weeks ago i started having problems with my 94 ctd. the thing would all of a sudden start chattering (sounded like the plungers in injection pump) lose power and eventually die. i've found several things during the course of the investigation... the lift pump was bad, there was a piece of metal under the check valve holding it open, the spring finally broke. heater assembly was loose to heater housing, and gasket was shot. pretty sure i took on some water there. heater assembly circuit is intact. replaced LP, steel line to fuel filter housing, seals at banjo fitting, rubber return and supply hoses, blew lines to fuel tank and tank vent line. bled all air at the injectors. and i'm still in trouble when i try to accelerate. like someone flips a switch, the injector pump starts chattering, i lose power and die. my intake temp circuit fault code is active. when i restart after this episode, my grid heaters will cycle thru as if i'm starting first thing in the morning with a very cold intake. i've read that the PCM will adjust the air/fuel mixture based on the intake sensor temp reading. could a faulty sensor cause me this condition? or could it be the PCM itself?? another sympton when the chattering starts is the throttle sticking for a couple of seconds. speed sensor? throttle sensor?? both controlled by the PCM, correct? another problem i've had recently (before the truck became undriveable,) is the shift points occasionally seem to be waaaay off, even under a very modest or slight load. i hadn't thought that it was related, but now I'm under the impression that the PCM controls the shift points too, right or wrong? One more clue for someone i hope... . when i work the throttle from the engine compartment, my hood light flickers, every time. any opinions on whether i might be on to something, or waaay off base would be appreciated greatly!!! i'm running out of ideas and my dad suggested it might be time to take her in :{ but the thought of someone else under the hood is giving me an ulcer,
someone please help!!
