Archived power steering pump quit

my father in laws 99 want start lift pump is geting

plenty of fuel to the vp and is pumping fuel out

the injector lines but does not seem to be a lot of

psi no smoke will run on either but will not stay running

maybe cam sensor???

its quit in the middle of town quick reply would be thankful
 
Sorry about the problems. Get it somewhere safe, hopefully near an auto parts house that will read the codes for you free - I think Autozone does? Not sure where you are. Or if he plans on keeping the truck consider investing in a $100 ODBII code reader. Can usually pick one up at Sears or Pepboys on sale. Electronics are harder to analyze than the mechanical stuff. At this point being that it'll run on either and not stay lit - I'd stop playing with it until I could check for codes. Could be ECM related??? Hope you get it figured out and it doesn't cost too much. Good luck.
 
An OBDII code reader will not read the cummins side of your ECM. You need a DRB3 to read such a failure. Only some shops have them outside of a Dodge dealer. It could be a cam sensor but I would bet on a VP44. We have either in stock. Thanks, Brady
