Just put Amsoil in son's 96. 47RE trans. Adjusted bancs per shop manual. Changed filter and disconnected ruturn hose at cooler to allow complete replacement. After sever short trips and adding more fluid it still runs HOT. NAPA filter. Not first time I have done bands.

What did I do wrong?

PS: Also did KDP, rehose, new belt and fuel return line.

Sounds like you may have introduced a restriction into the cooler when you disconnected the line. You might want to disconnect the line returning to the transmission from the cooler, put a bucket under it and run the motor for a short time to see if fluid is going through the cooler. I've heard that some people experience slippage with Amsoil and that could also cause heat but I bet you are not getting fluid through your cooler. There is also a check valve in the transmission line going up to the small heat exchanger on the passenger side. That valve has been known to stick shut once in awhile but it's not that common.
