Hey guys - I've got a problem. I hope someone that has these can help me by tomorrow night.

I got the lower shackle bolt out and the leaf springs popped all the way to the bed like it said they would. I got the top bolt out and then hand tightened it per the instructions but when I let my truck down to align the holes for the lower shackle bolt, the leaf springs won't move! They're staying firmly in place at the floor of the bed.

How do I get them to compress down so I can align the bottom bolt holes?

Please help!

If anyone would like to call me on this my cell number is (931) 306-9161 - the name's Hans.

Thanks!

UPDATE - Problem Solved! Sorry for the uproar! You have to jack the bed up rather than the axle! They should really put that in the instructions for us slow country folk!

I just installed the velvet-ride shackles on my 98 2500 4x4 this past weekend. Installation went smoothly, except I found it better to not torque the shackle parts first like their instructions say. I had to back off the nuts to get the shackle arms to fit the upper support. After getting it installed I then torqued it again.

I found the ride much improved over the stock shackles. I've had too many people complain about my truck riding like a truck. Will be curious to see what they say now.

Velvet ride

I've been running them for 4 years on both the stock rear leaf springs and the Skyjacker rear leaf springs.

I like them alot. They really smooth out the first 2" of travel. BUT once they "lock out" you are riding on the leaf spring.

Since adding the Skyjacker rear leafs, the Velvet Ride shakles and 305/70/16 tires, the rear suspension is super smooth :D I could not go back to stock, I'm spoiled :p
