I changed the master cylinder on my ’95 with anti-lock. I can’t get all the air out of the brakes – the petal is still spongy. I bench bled the master cylinder until there were no more bubbles. Then I bled the right rear first, then the rear left, then the front right, then the front left . Does anybody know a trick to get all the air out of the system? I have tried with a vacuum pump, but have had no success. Thanks in advanc  e.

Do you have 4 wheel anti lock or just rear wheel anti lock? I am not sure if the 95 is the same, but we had several first gens with the rear wheel anti lock and there was a portioning valve on the inside drivers side frame rail near the rear axle which had a bleeder screw on it. As per the FSM this unit had to be bled first then the individual wheels. Hope this helps.

Thanks iwill take a look. It is 4x4 anti-lock and there are 2 blocks under the master cylynder that dont have a bleed valve so i cracked the lines going in and got the wife to pump and hold. But after doing all that they are a bit better but way softer than oringinal. I have had this truck from new so i know that they are not right.
