My brake light and ABS light is on. Not all the time, but from time to time it will come on and stay on. Could it be trouble is it safe to drive? I'm able to put my e brake on and still move when in reverse I'm thiking my brakes need to be adjusted?

Also, when I"m driving 45 mph it seems like it will not go in gear, as long as i'm going over 45 or under it's fine is this a tps problem is what I'm hearing to the tune of $300. 00

The lights are usually a result of the rear ABS sensor failing... you should also notice your speedo might not work at low speeds as some trucks use it for a speed sensor too...

have not ran into that my speedo is just fine, but I was noticing I am able to pull my e brake on, and when I do that I can still reverse I'm thinking it has to do with rear brakes.

The 2001 had 4 wheel antilock brakes. You could have a sensor failure as mentioned. You could also have and ABS controller failure, ABS pump moter failure, or other problems such as cables or connectors.

Ouick way to find out what area is causing the problem is to read error codes from the ABS control unit. The ABS controller is not readable by a regular ODBII code reader. A DRB type scanner is needed to read the codes from the ABS control unit.

The DRB scanner is a standard Dodge dealer service tool. Some higher end shops also have either DRB or higher end scanners capable of reading codes from the ABS controller.

Dealers around hear charge around $60 to hook up the DRB and read ABS codes. Take about 10 minutes total and you will know what area to work on.

My brothers 99 did the same thing. It was the rear wheel speed sensor (sp?). $35 part...

On 2 different occasions I have had the same thing. First time was the rear sensor. Second was a front wheel bearing (4x4) with a little slop.

While your there Ohm the sensors, should be about 600 ohm's across the sensor. If ok look for chafed wires also.

On edit: rear sensor is about 1800 ohm's

ok here goes got the brakes fixed, the driver side brake adjuster came slap off the assembly took drum off and adjuster and cable just fell out. . so all good brakes now and no brake light on.

Now for the 2nd issue, when @45mph the it seems as though it is stuck in gear does not want to get out the 45 I can go under and over just fine. Could this be a TPS? for a speed sensor or what? HELP going to be kind of hard to explain to officer sorry dude my truck can only go over the speed limit :)
