We are out of town staying at Yosemite Lakes camp ground near Yosemite National Park. We are right outside the park entrance on the 120 highway. It is a Thousand Trails campground. Towing a 8000 lb + travel trailer. Just did the front brakes. Also just greased the front wheel bearings thru the ABS sensor. Brakes work for the most part. Would bleeding the brakes help. Anyone know of a good mechanic in the area. No cell service and I'm on dial up. Yikes this is old school. Any help woul be greatly appreciated. My brake light and ABS light will not go off.
Thanks,Mike

I do not have a 4 wheel drive but understand you have abs sensors on the front wheels. Take a look at those to see any broken wires, something not picking up signal etc. If they unplug and you have a digital ohm meter they should ohm at about 600 across the pins. Does your speedo work below 15 mph?. If it does not that is the sensor in the rear differential which should ohm around 1800 un plugged. Since you just did front brakes I would bet on the front end.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I will look at those things. One of the locals here was telling me about a place called The Tire Shop in Groveland,Ca. Just down the road. Im going to road test the brakes and see if there strong enough and if that's good go there. If not will have to have it towed. Any TDR members no of a good shop or dealer in the area. We will be heading towards the 99 highway.
Thanks ,Mike

ABS and Brake light will go off for many reasons one is if brake lights are not working (as burnt out bulb) but more likely since you were fooling around the front abs sensor you should look there first.

The light just indicates a electrical issue, the only way it could affect breaking is your ABS may not work. I would drive it back home and have someone look at it when they can, its not much of an issue. Whenever im off pavement I pull my ABS fuse anyways.

Dutch had that same issue after working on the truck and he replaced the ABS sensor in the differential. Worked like a charm. All is good. Di

The front wheel sensors are notorious for getting rubbed through by the rotor, especially if they have been tampered with.

Double check your fluid level as well.

Thanks all,Lights have gone off for now and we have brakes so were on to the next adventure,Lake Tahoe.

Thanks,Mike
