I know this might not be the correct forum, but Im looking at a truck and need some help quick.

Im looking at a new, from the dealer, 08' 3500, dually that has 22. 5 semi truck rims and tires on it. they are 36" tall.

I want to build a big work truck and will be putting a flatbed on it, I also tow a tractor, 10K, and 5th wheel, 9K. This truck looks very cool.

I am looking for feed back. Seems like a lot of tire but I know people run 36" or bigger tires? The tires stick out a couple of inchs past the wheel wells in the back now which will make for a 100" wide flatbed.

How big a tire are people running and how wide is the rear wheel set?

Also the truck has 3. 73 gears which seems to be what all the automatics have. Any issues, should I look for 4. 10's?

My option seems to be 19. 5 wheels and 225 tires? maybe 32" tall, I like a little bigger.

Im negotiating around 37K plus 3. 5K for wheels and tires.

This truck looks very, very beefy as set up, but... .

Is it spanking new? A friend of mine has an 07 Auto 3500 SRW running 37s and he's had no problems, tows heavy sometimes too. Sorry the width isn't an issue as he's a SRW.

I would negotiate from the 37k and not even consider the tires as part of the deal. If they insist tell them 33-34 and they can replace with stock wheels and tires, then what are they going to do? They'll probably settle around 38 +/- stand firm, walk away 3 - 4 times till they work with you - don't forget floor mats and a bed liner (of course no charge). They are not moving these big fuel hogs w/diesel @ $5/gal. Remind them of that as you walk away the first time. Only thing you have to loose is money if you don't play your own game/make them see you are the boss w/green in your pocket.

Good luck - sounds like a sweet ride.

Walked twice allready, they dont seem to want to go below where they are. They dont want to sell the truck without the tires because they dont have the stock tires to put back on. I can go some where else but this is my local dealer, I like to keep my business in town if I can.

Does your friends truck have 3. 73 or 4. 10 gears?

I would NOT buy the truck with those tires and 3. 73 gears. I have 22. 5's on my 2003 3500 with flatbed. It LOOKS awesome but installing those taller tires KILLED my pulling power, even with the Bullydog "triple dog" set on high. It would be a perfect setup with 4. 10 gears. My truck is a 6 speed.

By the way, I LOVE the wheels/tires, they just don't work well for pulling heavy with the 3. 73's. They work GREAT with a flatbed though.

Thanks

Thanks for the responses. Im looking for a truck with 4. 10s

Can someone tell me how to delete this from this forum or move it?

I really looking forward to having a dodge again.

Don't delete it. I just a chance to lurk here in a few days... I would have missed this read if it was gone.
