During the winter months, my truck will collect tiny spots of topical rust, which I believe is brake-dust particles that flip up and stick to the paint.

Has anybody else experienced this and do you have an effective way of cleaning it off? I have used Meguiars polish, but I have to really work at it and not all of the spots come off.

Thanks in advance.

Porter-Cable makes a real nice 4" belt sander. I think that'd be alot easier to deal with than the sandblaster. :D

Maybe somebody here with bodyshop experience will chime in and shed more light on this.

Only If I want my truck to look like a DeLorean!

The spots I'm getting are ON the clearcoat. I can rub them off. It's just not an easy process. I was hoping that someone knew of a good polish that would make the job easier.

I guess I'll be taking it to a local detail shop and have them work on it.

Hey stownsend I just finished detailing my truck for the same spots. I bought the clay bar designed for overspray removal from my local paint supply shop. Very easy, not strenuous just time comsuming. Made to remove all contaminates on surface comes with clay and spray. I bought Mequires but I think a few companies make it. Must be waxed afterwards. Worked great. Good luck

Stownsend -

I second the clay bar - you can order it from Geno's if you can't find it locally. Geno's has the "Clay Magic" brand clay kit. I used it on my black '96 that had a mist of old white over-spray on one side and it worked great.

Clay works great. I have a white truck and have to use it every spring when winter is over. Using clay also cleans the finish and removes other contaimenants. It will strip any wax you have on the truck is the biggest drawback, but when you get down the finish will be smoother than when you bought it.

Someone also told me that Bush's makes a spray that will take the rust spots off too.
