Truck has been running a little flat, so I checked for codes and came up with a 0500. The code list explains it like this;

P0500 (M) No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal No vehicle speed sensor signal detected during road load

conditions.

P0500 (M) No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal A vehicle speed signal was not detected

What exactly does that mean?

I don't know if this means anything.

When my lift pump went out a couple days aqo it threw a 0500.

It didn't make any sense, so I blew it off as a fluke. You just reminded me.

The 0500 code is thrown due to excessive spinning of the rear tires. I will often get the same code when driving in the rain/snow. The code will automatically reset itself after several successful engine restarts. I can't remember how many restarts it takes but I think after a week of driving and restarting without spinning the tires should do it. This code is in no way connected with the lift or injection pump.

Hope this helps.

Come to think of it. I did spin the tires when leaving a light this morning. These CTD's have so power sometimes it's hard not to! :)
