That doggone warning chime in my 2004. 5 is about to send me over the edge !!#@$%! I have de-programed everything I can but it still goes ding ding! I can't lay hands on that critter as it SEEMS to be in the Tach /speedo housing. Is there a way I can completely dissable this monster?

Have you followed the owners manual per the letter of the instruction? It is in the owners manual, ask your service writer for help.

Rod,

I suspect that the 2008 truck programming is probably different from yours, but my new truck will eventually stop the warning chime if you wait long enough. It takes about a minute or two, but after a while it gives up and shuts off. The light stays on, but the chime goes away.

Have you tried to wait it out?

I know this is not the same as completely disabling the system, but it works for me.

There are basically 3 ways to stop it.

1. Use the method in the owner's manual. I can't recall the exact procedure, but it does work. You have to be fast, though.

2. Go under the seat and short the wires to the switch in the driver's seat belt buckle.

3. Just plug the center seat belt into the driver's buckle.

Turn Off Seat Belt Warning... ..... DISCLAIMER!!! This procedure is in the owners manual and subject to all warnings therein.

1) With the engine off, put your seatbelt on.

2) Start the engine and wait for the seatbelt light to go off

3) Unplug and replug seat belt 3 times ending with it plugged in. Turn truck off. As you turn ignition off you will hear a chime that says you sucessfully completed the procedure.

Alternate Method:

DISCLAIMER !!! Alternate Method disables the seatbelt warning without the manufacturers approval. Do this at you own risk. Always wear seatbelts. At seatbelt clasp. There is a two wire harness. Unplug connector under and between seat and center console. Install a jumper. I used a blade terminal.

Thanks for the help--I will do the jumper method. I did the program method but it still goes dinga-dinga-danga-darna. I am a dedicated seatbelt person having run wrecker a couple years on the OLD :eek:Alaska roads but when I am just hauling around the place and backing to trailers --in and out the door I don't need some fangled mindless dinger going at me!

Thanks again --Rod
