UPDATE... TRUCK IS DEAD IN DRIVEWAY... CRANKS BUT NO START!!

After I made my first post, I went out and changed the fuel filter. Bumped starter 4 times to make the pump fill the filter housing. Started right up and ran for about 45 seconds. DIED. never restarted. The fuel filter housing is full, the pump that fills that housing runs, but still no start. PLEASE HELP!!

Maybe 2 seperate issues???(air in fuel lines and app sensor)

Still same codes

PS... I purchased the truck less than 2K miles ago. It has 127K on the clock.

I am planing on fuel system upgrades, but I thought it would go as stock for a while.

The 121 codes = apps signal voltage to low.

I don't think the apps will make the truck stumble.

You mite need a scanner to get all the codes, I read some are hard to get to come up.

The apps won't keep your truck from running.

Unloosen the numberr one injector line (or which ever one is easy to get to) crank engine, see if fuel is coming out. If fuel came out crack open a few more injectors (one at a time) it should start. (if you have another person to help out it will go quicker).

If it doesn't start you mite of lost the vp44.

mine had the same problem... apps code all of a sudden turned into the 0216 code. . dead vp44. have you checked the fuel pressure?

UPDATE... . Truck is STILL dead. Will get towed to local diesel shop in AM. Going to check fuel pressure. I have started arranging about $2,500. for

VP44, in-tank lift pump, gauge, filter and ,labor. Tough bill to foot, but I need the truck ASAP.

I have had a 24 Valve since June of 2002 and never been bit. I figure it was "my turn in the barrel"

PS does this price sound about right, pump has one year warranty. . ??

PLEASE give me more data. I was told i don't need to do the intank and the mechanic will replace the VP, but he said everytime they have done the intank swap, the truck never came back.

mwfi.com has injection pumps with a new lift pump and fuel filter for $1207. 00plus shipping. then you know you will get an updated vp44. i had a cummins install the vp44 for around 250 dollars and their rate is $80 dollars an hour. a pressure gauge or warning light wont be that expensive at all. easy way to save your self a 1000 dollars. matt

I have been posting some info in forum called "intank pump or not". Towed the truck to diesel shop. got the truck running but it had under 1 pound of pressure, vacuum under load. The shops recommendation was to do an intank pump and new VP44. Picked it up today after $2500 and seems to run better than before. I have owned the truck less than 2 months and think the pump was bad before I got it. I SCREWED up and told salesman about key to get codes trick. I think he fond some and had a tech clear them the day I got it. I know there a ton of options on this lift pump, and I know that this may bite me in the end but I think for my stock truck that takes me to work and back, and has a one year warranty, I think I might just get by. Thanks
