Greetings all! I hope you guys out there can help me out!

Please don't move this to "conversions" as I want to get as much input from the 24 valve guys I can get. So, here's my problem:

1999 24V with 108K miles on it and the transmission. During my conversion, I used both the PCM and ECM. Upon hard acceleration and high rpm's, my engine will "cut out" for a split second. NO codes. It'll run fine and purr like a kitten whilst cruising down the highway. If I floor it and only go into 3rd (at about 60-70mph) it runs fine. Seems to only occur during HIGH rpm's.

It's been getting progressively worse. Today, it cut out several times in a row and even stayed off for about a complete second. Since it's been getting worse over time, I can't imagine that it has anything to do with the conversion. It appears as if it's a part that's failing over time.

It will do this with AND without my Smarty loaded. I replaced the VP44 (MWFI) about a year and 7K miles ago due to codes. All sensors EXCEPT the crank position. New APPS from Timbo. New alternator due to low voltage issues. FASS system that supplies 15psi of fuel and I WATCH the pressure guage more than the speedo!

I'm kinda at a loss. I'm hoping someone out there may have experienced some of these symptoms and may have insight on what might me going south. I think I may have posted this late last year and didn't get many responses. Sorry for the re-post if it's offended anyone.

One more thing - I don't have a tachometer, so I have no idea what the rpm's are.

Thanks!

The FASS has very good flow, so I doubt that's the problem here.

Normally I would have suspected the VP44, but you say that you recently replaced it. Not to say that it still couldn't be the problem, but I wouldn't think it likely.

Sorry I can't help you more than that--I'm curious what it might be.

Alaska,

Spend a couple of hours cleaning the battery posts and recheck any electrical connectors to any performance box and all sensors. This helped me when my truck started with an intermitent miss. Also check or replace the alternator brushes... It may be a bad connection or extra electrical noise.

Is it sucking air somewhere? With all the conversion work and the fuel pump change, is there the possibility that some hose or connection along the way got damage to the point where the fuel system is sucking in a small amount of air? Just enough the louse things up a bit.

Thanks gentlemen for the help so far.

I'm running the FASS w/the filter and fuel separator along with the OEM filter canister. Can the OEM canister restrict any flow? My thought was that having the extra filter/water separator couldn't hurt, but maybe it is.....

I did find out today that the main negative battery connection has a crack in it where the bolt head is at causing it to be loose. The positive isn't very tight either. I'm going to get some new post ends for both batteries tomorrow.

I don't think it's air in the fuel, but I'm going to check all the connections anyway. Can't hurt, that's for sure!

How about the APPS? Even though it's new, I'm wondering if its an issue with one spot where the contacts aren't good.

Thanks again!

ata, that's a possibility too. I have 4. 10's and maybe it's hitting the governor and I don't know it.

Would my transmission need adjusting as maybe it's not shifting soon enough to stay off of the "rev limiter"? Would that adjustment be in the band section of the transmission?

I've shopped for a tach that I could make my own pulse generator (mount/toothed ring/sensor) but haven't found one that sounds like it'd work.
