Help finding hotel in Chicago

Looking for a hotel close to the museums (sp?) and maybe Navey Pier. Never stayed up there before, wanna take the kids up for the weekend. We'll be comming in on the South Shore Line. Also, what do you do about car seats when you take a taxi? Thanks!
