I just took apart my front axle to install new ball joints on my 96 4x4 2500. I took off the retaining nut for the rotor with a floor jack. The threads were stripped and the nut was trashed. Now I need the outer piece for the left front axle. The dealer wants $254. Are there any other sources for these type parts?

Bertyz, Dynatrac Products 7392 Count Circle Huntington Beach Calif. 92647 714-596- 4461. The front axle U-joints on my front end went out, so I took the truck to 4WD Wholesalers to have the U joints replaced and they could not get the nut off the passenger side of the axle, the tech said he put about a 1000 lbs of torque and some heat on it and it wouldn't budge. On closer inspection it looks like the U joints and bearings ran real hot and fused the nut on the axle. I am taking the drastic aproach, I ordered phase 3 kit from Dynatrac which gives me 35 spline, 1 -1/2" inner and outer axles, 1 ton hubs, new bearings and races, new spindels, 8 on 6 1/2 hubs, greaseable one ton U joints, reuse you own rotors with a rotor adaptor. Costs a pretty penny, but should be worth it- bomb proof front end! They make 3 stages of kits from $1595 - $3195. Or you could by the whole new axle $5300 out the door. You could always try shopping around. I know Kragen Auto Parts had some axle parts. Hope this helps.
