Help! G56 2wd vs 4wd compatability

Hey!

I need a quick question answered. I've been looking for a 4wd G56 transmission for my '06 since I lost 4th and 6th gear.

I found a decent price on a G56 for a 2wd. Is it simply a matter of replacing the tail shaft housing to make the 2wd transmission work, or is the output shaft different?

Can I convert the 2wd to a 4wd by simply unbolting the housings from the outside, or does it require the transmission to be torn down to do the conversion?

Why don't you call Standard Transmission or Blumenthals, both TDR advertisers and professional rebuilders.
