HELP! Got Injectors, I'm An Idiot!! Read Directions

I bought Jammer 2's for my 1998. 5 24 Valve. When I pulled first injector out tonight, it doesn't look like anything like the 6 in box I just got. Box says DO-200 Ser#39769

JPG attached, new one on right, old one on left. (File too big, won't take it)

To describe, old injector looks like a 7/16" wide "nail" with an "O"ring 3/4" down from the threads at the top. New one is much wider with varying widths. Not even close.

Am I missing something, or did I get wrong injectors?

Damn truck is apart, and no answer at City Diesel. I used the DD's instructions, but no pics of injectors.

Thanks

I requested injectors, not tips. Paid $320 something, plus core of $200. 00

What I got is way more complicated/complete than what I pulled out of my truck. The end of the new injector is threaded, my lines are compression fitting also.

Did I leave something in the engine? It's gettuing dark!

Did you pull out the connector tubes? Sorry I had to ask. You have the valve cover off right? and the injectors are under it? Injectors should be almost an inch wide, you have to remove the clamps and then pull them straight up.

I pulled the front injector retaining clamp under the valve cover, as directions state only front.

It then says to thread short intake bolt into top of injector. There's no thread inside the exposed fitting. I pryed on external threads, and this "thing" came out, as I decribe the 7/16" nail about 4 1/8" long.

I didn't pull anything out inside the valve cover, so is that what I'm screwing up? Maybe this is why you need light?

I see now. I only pulled the tubes, not the actual injectors.

Back yard mechanics, a little knowledge goes a long way. My copied directions are kind of wasjhed out, but now I see the prying up on the injector that sits inside the valve cover.

I thought injector came out sideways. Guess it's only tube.

I'll change the title so nobody else thinks I'm a Dumb*****.

Thanks.

you have only removed the crossover tube, you loosened the injector line nut and popped the crossover tube out, thinking that this was the injector-it's gray in color isn't it--for future reference you don't have to remove it totatally just back it out a 1/4"---the injectors are under the valve cover--chris

Glad to be of some help! As long as the rest of the tubes are in don't pull them all the way out, only pry them a little so you can get the injector out because they push against the injector. You will be amazed at the difference the injectors give you. Also don't be surprised if it takes a bit of cranking to start and then after the first few times you shut it down it may take a little cranking to re-start, but after that it should go fine, just like normal. I use to run my Comp on level 3 and after the injectors I usually leave it off.

ok now remove valve cover---you will see the rocker arm towers--they are toward the injector lines--now there's an 8mm bolt that holds the injector retainer in place--look just to the left of the rocker arm towers(facing from front of truck of course)--do you see it---now remove that bolt and the retainer will slide out--to be sure the bolt you want to remove is always towards the front of the truck on the retainer--the other bolt that kind of under the rocker arms doesn't need any attn--these 8mm bolts aren't super tight either-----now when you have the retain out you can thread in either a bolt that you removed from the air intake horn or valve cover depending on what yr truck you have----thread bolt in a couple of turns and use a wrench to pry up on the injector and it will pop out---chris

While I am trying to type you a reply, members to the rescue. Thats why I love this site

PM me a phone number if you need me.

Thanks

on the bottom of the injector should be a copper washer--if it's not there you need to remove it from the injector hole--take a screwdriver and insert into the hole--screwdriver will need to taper from smaller than the injector tip to larger--now pry it into the hole and wedge and wiggle the screwdriver around and you can pull the copper washer out----

next make sure copper washer is on new injector--you can take a little grease and grease it up so it doesn't fall off--also put some grease on the rubber oring--

check the injector --there will be a hole in the side--you need to line that hole up with the crossover tube---so set injector into its hole and push down until it kind of snaps in--now take the crossover tube and push it in--it to will snap into place--if you can't thread the injector line nut on you don't have the crossover tube in--so you need go back and double check things---after the crossover is snapped in put the retainer and bolt back in and tighten--you can start to the injector line nuts at any time--just don't tighten them--but most guys leave this step for last--good luck--chris

once you get everything put back together--leave injector line nuts on #3 and #4 loose--go bump starter and let pump run for it's 20 seconds--do this 3 times--then try and start it--don't let it start--when it gets close go and check to see if you have fuel coming out of the loose injector line nuts--if so tighten them and start her up--then go and enjoy---chris

yes they are very good instructions but you should add:

You may need 2 airhorn intake gaskets.

#8, you can remove the valve cover bolts--makes it easier to remove valve cover

to the instructions... .

I know in #1 it says reuse them, but when I did my first set the gaskets didn't come off with the air horn and grid heater--they broke---chris
