HELP...high pitch squeak!

Have noticed this noise coming from the front of the truck for the last few days. The squeek is in sync with the rotation of the wheels as it slows with the truck speed. First thought of front brake pads, but the sound does not change or cease with the application of the brakes (would expect a change if the pads are worn to the squealers). Not sure where to look next... . any ideas? All help appreciated :)

Although you wouldn't expect it on a truck as new as yours, you need to look at the U-joints. Have you been in a lot of mud? Look closely at the joint, usually if one is to the point of making noise, you can see red rust coming out around the seals. bg

Thanks for the suggestion. No, this truck has mostly been a daily driver and has never seen heavy mud (no off-road).

Heard it again last night. Sounded more like an; "eek... . eek... . eek" as the wheels turn. Barely audible above the CTD, but detectable.

Thanks again!

Pinpoint which wheel if thats where its coming from. Jack the truck up on that wheel. Remove the tire and rotate the disk, get your ear down there and listen.

The wifes Blazer did this exact thing today. Had thoughts of wheel bearings and brake pads going through my head. Ended up being a small rock/peble stuck between the back of the disk and that dust/heat shield. Sounded exactly like what you said. I like the U joint idea also.

Go figure.....

Now the sound is gone. Or at least I can't hear it any more. Went under the offending wheel and flexed the rock guard, but nothing fell out :( Looked for the seam on the brake pad, but could locate nothing. Now, a few days later, the sound is gone. Dirt, a small rock, brake dust..... who knows. Thanks to all who took the time to try and help. Learned something along the way... . not all lost :)
