I'm doing a EGT gauge install, drill for thermocoupler and realize I ain't got no tap for new hole. I need truck in the morning. Anyway to tap for thermocoupler without Tap. Or can I drive with hole in top of exhaust with temp plug till I can get to Hardware store. Any help greatly appreciated!! James:eek:

Hate to tell ya this but your walkin. No way a temp plug is going to stay in and you don't want hot exhaust shooting straight into your hood liner.

A thought,

Well, get out the hose clamps. cover the hole with a good heat resistent metal shield (little piece of 1/8" plate, maybe get at Home Depot) and hose clamp that thing. The hose clamps should hold, if not some good bailing wire and wire it over the hole.

I would not use duct tape though, lol

i'm with rweis you could also use several sheets of alum. foil folded over a bunch of times. just make sure the clamp band covers the hole.

Well I was able to borrow a car from my father in law. So I didn't have to rig up a plug to drive it. The loaner enabled me to buy a tap and handle. Will be able to tap in the a. m. but I realized in all the confusion I managed to loose the two small ferrels. Called Geno's and they put a whole new fitting in the mail for me. NO CHARGE! Made me feel a little better. Anyway after I get it tapped in morning I'll still have to cap off till new hardware comes. Thanks for all the responses. James
