Was changing out air filters and shut hood. Now there is no tension on the hood relaease cable. I can not open the hood. I took the handle assembly off and the cable has a kink in it.

i was supposed to be leaving on a trip in the morning, but am now worried to take the truck, without being able to open the hood... TIA, Scott

I can get to the cable... I got the filter on before shutting the hood, then went to check my foglight fuse and no luck opening.

Very true, I bought a Cummins for a reason, but traveling through Nebraska, with my 16yr old daughter, will suck if I had a Murphy's Law moment.

She would prefer to drive her Mini Cooper anyway!! She only wants to drive dad's truck to pick up guys!!!

Make your trip as planned. The chance of suffering a serious problem with your Cummins engine that requires opening the hood is remote.

Did you mean can't? I think you did, in which case I'm sorry I couldn't come up with a better suggestion.

When you get back, and finally get this resolved, it would be great to post how it was done, in case it happens to someone else.

Maybe it's only sort of half latched. Drive it a bit, or try to push down on the hood (don't dent it) and see if it latches fully and has normal feel and operation.
