my manual is on its way. i am installing the toe plate in my steering column and my key won't come out due to the shift linkage needing to be adjusted. it is the publication no. 81-370-6108. page 21-360. can someone be so kind as to fax me the procedure if possible. thanks. my fax number is 561-460-9294.

Shift adjust

Can't fax you, but the adjustment is done in park. Then center the adjusting swivel in the torque shaft grommet. Tighten swivel lock to 90 inch lbs. Shift rod has to move freely in swivel. Lube as required. (From FSM). Good Luck

If you look where the shift rod comes off the column, the torque shaft is the one that is 90 degrees to it. The adjustment looks like it is at the junction of these two.

Thanks Andy,

does the black hard plastic housing need to come off of the steering colum? It didn't look easy to get to. I will look at it in the am again with your comments. thanks. scott.

well i got it all opened up so i can see. i still am a little confused as to which parts to adjust. doesn't look like a lot of adjusting screws in there. thanks for any more anyput. scott.

Know we will never know.

I bought the last three toe plates in the world today for 97's made before 12/1996 with the first vin digit 1 or 3. They where at a dealership in NY.
Going to replace the leaky gear box with a stocker from napa $138 (lifetime warranty)
Stock intermediate shaft from Dodge $140
Pitman Arm from Dodge $80 - OUCH! (Does anyone know of a better deal?
Probably do some sway bar bushings while I'm at it

If that doesn't work I will put the column bushing that I have sitting here in.
