I got a Jacobs exhaust brake on a trade and was told it was for an 03. I got my elbow out tonite and compared to the new one, and it fits inside it. Hindsight is 20/20, and of course there's a little tag on it

Cummins P/N 4089596

Model ISB TMVO MY04. 5

Jacobs P/N 032725

I'm seeing pretty clearly now that I have it all apart, that I have a brake for an 04. 5 truck.

Is the size of the exhaust pipe the only difference? Can I just put this on and get a different headpipe? The inlet looks the same, it's just the outlet that looks different.

Yepper... . that one is for a 04. 5. It is different & you are possibly in luck. My brother has a 04. 5 & he needs a 04. 5 brake. He has a 03-04 brake & would gladly trade you. You can buy a adapter to use the 04. 5 brake for around $60.

Just buy a MBRP down pipe for a 4. 5 and newer and you will be good to go or take Cummins724 up on his offer.

He PM'd me last night & is gonna order a stainless exhaust for 04. 5. He needs the truck now & I live in PA. & he is in Michigan.

I don't have the swithc that's supposed to come with the kit either. I see in the wiring diagram that there's a resistor and a diode in it. I don't suppose somebody with a switch that's not installed yet could measure the resistance across the red and black wires could they? Looks like it should be infinite when open, but some kind of resistance when closed.

I think the automatic operation might be handy, but I'd rather just wire it up for a manual use and bypass the ECM than to just guess and let the smoke out of it.
