Brake Harness

Look between the bottom of you dash and the firewall and you will see a large bulkhead electrical connector left of the pedals. On the right of it there should be a rectangular 4 pin connector hanging there. It should have a tag on it that reads "electric brakes", That is the connector that you need. ;)

One of them is for a test device to read trouble codes. I'm not sure what the others are for, but I think they are to calibrate things. If your '94 is like my '95 there is no trailer brake connector. There is a heavy blue wire just snubbed off that is used to connect the brake controller output to the brake connector on the trailer hitch. It should be somewhere above and to the left of your steering column. If you don't have a Dodge service manual for your truck what are you waiting for? Just the wiring diagram alone will more than pay for it. My service manual is a mess. Sticky notes marking pages and I've had to glue the cover back on. It's paid for itself many times.

JTeague, the trailer brake connector was added later than the '95.

Somebody (a trailer hitch installer) told me on the earlier trucks there is no connector under the dash unless you ordered the trailer tow package. (I hadn't ordered it, so I didn't look) I haven't looked at the wiring diagram to confirm it should be there with the package.

Apparently a trailer-towin harness was added to mine, as there is a group of wires running from front to back specifically to the trailer connector.

I got the trailer tow package with mine. NO connector, just a stubbed off wire for the trailer brake output. The connector was not in the '95 package. jsimpson you need the wiring diagram for your truck. Wiring details changed every year.

No factory connector on a '94

It it has the Mopar trailer wiring kit installed, it might have one.

Joe G Go to kinko's and have them spiral bind your FSM, it's the best $12 I spent. You will need to divide it in half. I had them color copy the cover and I tore out and copied the index in the back and the page in the front with the "tabs" on it and added them to the second book. Grease and oil stains copy very nicely. :)

BOMBed FSM?

I put the cover back on mine with some marine silicon glue I had. That worked pretty good and it's flexible. I don't like the spiral binding because the pages usually tear loose eventually. Might have to do that one of these days, but I'll resist until I have too.
