Auto Transmission HTO query?

Purchased BD's 2low kit but can't figure out where they designed the valve to be mounted. Has a beefy steel bracket w/hole on one end and a bend in the bracket. Looks like it's meant to go someplace specific. And then the vacuum line, that goes where? The electrical is easy to do.
Any help would be appreciated.

Rotohead,

Did your 2lo kit come from the same BD as dieselperformance.com?

Thanks

I believe it's the same. I bought it direct from BD expecting instructions... emailed them for help twice but no joy. The bracket on the valve is heavy steel, bent about 15 degrees at one end, appearing to allow a attaching point of some kind. Came with two long, thin bolts and there are corresponding holes (tight fit) in the bracket but I've crawled around alot over the past couple months under this truck and I can't figure out where they intend the valve to go. And I suppose the vacuum line just goes inline to the accuator on the axle. If I'm wrong I guess I'll know soon enough. Just would like to know where the valve is suppose to go.

I haven't seen this on their website. Is it there and I'm just having a stupid attack or what?

Thanks

Darren

I installed a BD PressureLoc on my buddy's truck and it sound like just described the vaccuum soleniod that operates the PressureLoc for the transmission. That kit came with instructions at least #ad
.

Where I installed it (per instructions), was on top of the Intake plenum that is mounted on top of the Intake Manifold. If I can remember correctly this late at night (on only 1 hour of sleep #ad
) it was the "upper rear long bolt" that I removed and the "heavy stainless steel bracket" fit under the bolt-head and reinstalled the bolt in the plenum housing. The long screws were for if you already had a PressureLoc soleniod mounted there, you would take same but shorter screws out and use the new LONG screws to mount the two soleniods together (not so in your case).

How long have you been hounding BD?
This might be a new product and the instructions may not be done yet.

Researched this through back issues of TDR and ordered from BD direct, haven't tormented them for help but have tried more then a few times and just anxious to hook her up. And it's not on their web site. Just a small kit, valve, switch w/wires and is to get low range only in 2-wheel drive. I need this to back my trailer up a 7%+ driveway(that's where all this BOMBIN' started for me!!! Daag-nabit!)

Put the valve bracket under the long rear air intake bolt, just as you would an exhaust brake solenoid valve. Just behind there you can find a vacuum hose/plastic line setup running along and just under the rubber hood seal on the cowl. One of the lines tapping ino it has an elbow and then goes back past the bellhousing to the transfer case shifter area. That is the one you splice the valve into, just remove the plastic elbow. . . you will know it is the right one if you disconne\t and then go to 4wd and the light doesn't come on, then attach the elbow again and the light comes on. (some times you have to play around with rolling the tuck to release any bind on the shift collar so it will go into and out of 4wd easily).

Joseph,
Thanks for the help. I have the Jacobs E-Brake so it took me a second or two to figure out where the BD type valve goes but I got it and works like a champ. Neat little kit from BD. Thanks again.

Was just wondering how much this 2low kit cost?

Rebel - I think the BD was just under $100. There was a member in Portland, OR that had a kit (mechanical) available for around $60. No sure what happened to his ad on this site.
