Archived Help installing Rip's Downpipe 4"

I bought a system from Rip a week ago and I am trying to install it today as I need to work in the AM. when I tighten the flange on the downpipe at the turbo outlet it pulls the downpipe over and it contacts the passanger side frame member. I have tried everything and I believe I have a poor made downpipe. Am I missing something?

Have you tried rotating, (or can you), rotate the downpipe a little more towards the transmission before you tighten it down?

Yeah,



I tried that but the downpipe's flange still favors pulling it towards the frame unless I tighten the bolts unevenly. The flange even with it hitting the frame are clearly not centered in the turbo outlet. The lip of the downpipe is higher up on the engine side than the passenger side.



I am at a loss.

Try using some anti-seize compound onthe lip of the flange where it goes on the bell. Most times the rust on the flange of the turbo elbow will do that on you with a new exhaust. The anti-seize compound will allow it to move some while you torque it tight..... Andy

I have anti-seize on it. I believe the downpipe was made wrong. I cant get it to go on straight because it hits the frame not because of a problem with the flange or "bell". Aren't the bolts suppose to be tightened evenly? How much of the bolt is suppose to protrude through the other side of the bell?



Darn... This puts me in a rough spot.



Thanks for the help guys but I think I have a bad downpipe.
