Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Help? is my transmission going bad?

I have about 155k now on my truck and use it to tow a 12,500lb 5th wheel. Normally it tows great. I can hang with my friends v10 ford, and he tows a lighter travel trailer.



This weekend we went for a trip and from a stop my truck was a DOG! I had to put accelerate to 2000 RPM"S and a few seconds before it would move. It was like I had an anchor behind me.





If I did not come to a complete stop it was fine, Normal acceleration.



I thought maybe one of my brakes was locked up so when I got home I jacked up the wheels on my trailer and could spin every one without a problem. I also checked the brakes on my truck the same way, and they are not sticking.



Is my transmission going bad. I have never had one fail before, so I'm not sure what the symptoms are. Any ideas on other things that could be wrong.



I do have a suncoast low stall converter(not in my sig)

Sounds like 2nd gear starts - Replace govenor soleniod and sensor - About $200 for parts ( in trans valve body and easy to do with trans pan removed) plus transmission fluid.

I had to do the same as Tom suggested, on my stock transmission. Problem solved.
