since this morning, when at a stop, i let off brakes and press the accelerator... and it takes a good 2-3 seconds before the truck begins to move, then seems to be fine. Only driven it a mile or so since this began to occur, but it was getting progressivly worse. Whats wrong?

Could be alot of different things.

But, I would dare to guess at your Torque converter clutch slipping and/or forward clutches slipping.

It does not do it in reverse I just found out after going around the neighborhood. It also grabs just a hair before I come to a complete stop. but definatly doesn't happen in reverse. Thanks for any opinions.

I'm an ETH guy, but I have had auto trannys act this way when very low on fluid. Have you checked the level??? Does the fluid smell burnt?

Snot clutches, 1st and reverse are the same pack... ... .

Snot the TC clutch, it is not involved until 3rd and 4th... .....

Sounds like second gear starts to me. Can you pull it down into first and have it work normally? Give that a try if you have not already and get back with the report.

Good work LSmith..... exactly what you said. I can feel it grab, almost jerk when I come down to a complete stop... just the last couple of feet it does it. It jerks, or almost shakes the truck when it does it. When I come to a stop and feel it doing this, I know it's not gonna pull away like normal, it'll just rev then slowly move forward. So I did like you suggested,, I yanked it down in first and it drove away normal. Does this make sense? Prolly not, but what kinda situation am I in here? Is this gonna be a bunch of transmission work? Should I get $2500 ready for ATS/DTT?;)

Sorry for rambling, but this is very frustrating!

You may have a govenor pressure sensor going bad. It can be other things.

I'd call Bill k--he will give you helpful advice.

If you keep driving it with this problem you will need 2500 bones handy to pay the transmission man... ... ... ... ... .....

That jerking and shaking is probably it going in and out of first gear, probably a couple times in a second or two.

Since it just happened out of the blue with no warning (it did right?) I am with Fox that the Gov pressure sensor/solenoid is bad. I would lay 10-1 odds that is the problem but I think you need to go to the expert of your choosing now for the final testing and diagnosis. This is one a dealer should be able to handle easily, but you will pay dearly for the labor. If you have a good pressure gauge capable of 125 PSI that you can get hooked to the transmission passenger side and still see it while you are driving call one of the expert aftermarket trans shops and they can go through the testing with you.

My second gear starts were caused by solenoids being out. They just drain, drop the pan, and throw in new solenoids. Had this happen a couple times. Before timing and fuel mods, golly, what a slug. Once with a trailer it wouldn't hardly climb off the edge of the road and back on the Interstate after stopping to water some sunflowers. :p
