Hey guys I have a 03 auto that is leaking motor oil. It seems to be coming from about half way up on the front of the motor. The passenger side of the block is wetter then the drivers. It seems to leak worse at higher rpm. Me and my buddy drove up to my brother's house and we changed the front seal, and did a good job siliconing the front timing cover, we checked the cover for cracks to. We are sure we did a good job on the front seal as well. What else could be leaking, we though we had it fixed when we changed the front seal we put a wear sleave on crank cause it had a small grove. We emery clothed it first. When truck is parked oil drips from passenger side oil pan bolts. Truck will leak about 1 liter in between oil changes. We thought we had the leak fixed but when we pulled over to check it on the way home she was leaking again. The truck is a 305hp 03 auto, stock, 302,000km

Thanx in advance

I would believe it is the rocker box o-ring gasket, they are fairly simple to replace, as long as you pay attention to it's placement, and do not over torque. It could be a valve cover also, but from what you stated, lower on the block...

Before doing anything else check the torque on the oil pan screws. It's not uncommon for them to be loose.

Thanx rbattelle this Sunday we plan on pulling the bolts one at a time adding a little dab of silicone and putting them back in and wishing for the best. I see no reason why a little wind from driving (and the fan) couldn't blow a little oil up, as well as leak down.

Hey JJPage just so i'm clear the rocker box o-ring gasket is just below the valve cover right?

Thanx everybody

Wow thanx for doing that write up rbattelle well done.

I noticed nobody has mentioned the cam seal. When we were in there we didn't notice any excess oil in the timing cover. Is there a drain for the oil to leak back into the motor or something? Should oil even get in the timing cover? We saw the gears were wet, but no pools of oil or anything.
