I normally start up and my Pressure is between 12 & 15 psi and constant.

Today I fired up for lunch and it would suddenly drop to 3 - 6 psi... and stay there unless I really gassed it... then it would stay @ 12 -15 for about 15 seconds - then drop again.

Awww Man! Supposed to head out with the Wife & Son camping this weekend...

Anyone know where I could get the "$70 Pump" around S. E. of Houston? Clear Lake area or anything close enough.

I can do the swap myself (I think? - I set my own valves, etc. etc. !)

1999 QC 4x4

PLEASE RESPOND!!

No with it SUDDENLY dropping I counted the filter out... gets as low as 3 psi.

Going to try and get our equipment division to get their best price for one...

I did drain it... no change. (Thought of water)

Mine has been at 11 PSI for months now I just keep a slightly used one on the shelf for the "big day. " I was just getting ready to ask if I should replace it since I pull a 20' car hauler with mowing equipment in it and it can get as low as 5psi getting on an interstate on ramp pulling the trailer. :{ Any input will do. Also any thoughts on the relocation kits by Genos. I have slight mods and don't think that the big line kit will give me any bonus over the Genos kit.

If you can get a hold of issue 48 of TDR, it gives a good step by step removal and replacement of the fuel pump. It has the Cummins part number listed as 3990082 and it costs $160. I know the Dodge dealer I called wanted about $250 for one. I can't be sure if that is the part number i needed for my '98, but they are real helpful at Cummins, so call them up. I was just in my cummins dealer and if you spent over a $100, you could send in for a free cummins cap. . :D If you want I could fax a copy of the article to you?

I called my Cummins dealer in St. Paul and he gave me number to a dealer in Arlington, Texas. It is 817-640-6801, they have dealerships all over Texas so he should be able to help.

The $70 campaign part number is 4090046. If you're able to get one. Some people can get them easy, some people can't get them at all. The pump is pretty easy to change. Especially after the 3rd or 4th time.....

You guys are completly helpful... nothing worse than the unexpected!

I will call dealerships tomorrow - my truck is used for official emergency response for Petro-Chemical disasters and National Emergencies... That should qualify for a $70. 00 pump - if offered.

Please keep responing...
