I installed the BMK 15 and changed to Amsoil 15/40 this weekend. Now I have LOW oil pressure. Prior to installing and changing, the guage stayed just over the 40 mark at highway speeds. Now when first starting up cold the pressure is on the 40 mark. Now it stays about 1/2 way between the first white mark and the 40 mark at temperture and highway speeds. At idle the needle is only 2 needle widths over the first white mark. So there is very little difference from idle pressure and 1800 to 2000 rpm pressure. I checked the hose connections 5 times to be sure I had them right, I do. I drained a little oil from the petcock to be sure there was oil getting to the filter assembly, there is. Any ideas? I have 54. 8k on truck

Thanks

Ron

My truck is showing about the same oil pressure with the bypass installed. What really scares me is that on a warm day at idle, my oil pressure is almsost on the first white line!! Talk about Low pressure.

Once I have time, I am going to remove the bypass and go back to the fleetguard filters. Last time I was at Cummins (about 1 week ago), they said that the stratopore oil filters were still on backorder, so I purchased a microglass filter and will be using that for a little while.

I heard fellows talk on hear that when you install a by-pass filter you will read lower oil pressure. I guess that is normal with a bypass filter. I have not installed one so I really don't know. You might ask Amsoilman. I'm sure people that have them will comment.

HMMmmm - dunno about other brands of bypass filters, but the Frantz filter I use has a restriction built into it that limits oil flow to a relative trickle compared to max oil flow - wonder if your brand might be missing the proper restriction?
