Went to Dodge dealer to inquire about a new truck. wanted a 3500 srw 4x4 ho auto long bed 4 door white. Only one around is two states away. They have a dually, six speed 4x4 4 door white they can sell $2000 less then the other. Its a older built truck. Built on 01/03. Said thats why its less, before price increases. The auto is 3. 73 gear and dually is 4. 10. Cant decide! Also is there much differance in bed height between mine, see sig. and a 1998 dually and this 2003. Worried about goose neck height. Any advise guys. I can drive dully out for about $33,000. 3. 9%apr for 60 months and $2500 rebate,$1000 coupon got in mail and truck at invoice! Any suggestions?

Well this my opinion and only an opinion from pasted experiences. When we purchase something, doesn't matter what it is and we compromise because of price, later on you'll be sorry. If you want an auto don't buy the stick because that's all they have and the price is good. On the other hand you can't beat a dually for towing, auto or stick has its plus and minus, on the stick you can add exhaust brake and on the auto you have to upgrade the trans. Also I think the 4. 10 on the stick is a bad combo (my own opinion) engine revs too high at highway speeds, it's a good combo for the auto, this was the case on the previous years, someone with and 03 can chime in here. What ever decision don't rush into it and good luck.

Fred, how's the new red ride doing for ya? Are you going to do running boards with the light accents you have on the black rig? I still think that looked really trick. Haven't seen anything like that out West.

If you guys throw another big BOMB party this fall I may just have to drive out for it and spec out your new rig :)

Well i'll agree about rpm's with 4. 10 and six speed. Drove a truck with the new 48re trans(was told exhaust brake would work with it) its a slick ride with auto. Liked it much better then shifting. The dually turned about 2100 rpm at 70 mph.

I have the 6 speed with 410s,and if you are going to leave the stock tires on it. it does scream on highway, sometimes I look for 7th. but I plan to put 19. 5s on soon. that should fix it. as for auto or stick. I had the same problem. always had autos did not know if I would realy like 6 speed, now I am glad I bought the 6 feels like you are driving a truck,I only plan on putting a comp style box in when available, air box,and maybe someday stage 2 injectors. can't do that with auto unless you give it the DTT treatment. The new red ride is awesome, very comfortable and even has a cup holder for the beer, it kind of sits low to the ground and I think it's not a good idea to do running board lights. I just moved a big landscape trailer in my yard with yesterday and was amazed at the torque/power, really would like to BOmb it but there's nothing available for it now.

We're always throwing parties around here and you're more then Welcome. ;)

You can't have both the 3. 9% APR and the $2500 rebate, you have to choose one or the other. Sorry.

Peter

You may be able to get 3. 9% APR through a bank or credit union though, which would allow you to still take the DC $2500 rebate.

I had a 98 and now have a 03 and have had no issues with the increased height which (I think) is around an inch and a half. I have the 6 speed and 4. 10's and feel that is the right combo for me and the trailer that I haul. This is the best vehicle that I have ever had.

If you haul a bunch of weight, check the spec difference between the GCVW on the 2 ratios, also the 4. 10 should have come with a lsd (the 3. 73 might have been ordered with it, also). Good luck with your puchase.

The sales manager at the D. C. store said The Summer Special this week only is all rebates and 3. 9! today we drove it again and he dropped another $500. Thats $500 under invoice and $3500 in coupons and rebates as well as 3. 9. Wife liked it but we both hunted for 7Th gear at 70mph plus. Also shift is a bit awkward on that 5th and 6th. Took some getting use to. We took credit app. to fill out. the more we drove it the better we liked it. Fuel mileage said between 14 and 17. Once we ran it up to 90. It felt really good at 75 and 80. It did have some noise in neutral.

3500+SRW+LB+4doors???

In the first post DP says he wants a 3500 with 4 doors long box and SRW that is what I wanted but the online says you have to go DRW for long box and 4 doors did I miss something when I ordered my truck? I went 2500 cause I hate the DRW for my personal driver with that long of wheelbase. And the 4 doors was required as was long bed for hauling 5th wheel I have. Did I shoot my self in the foot for not asking just assuming website was correct? Did they exist at one time?

Funny you should mention "low to the ground. " I found out how low my 2-wheel drive is today when the transmission crossmember found a big rock on a dirt road (that I shouldn't have been on). No harm done other than a scratch, but "ooops!"

Eric_77;

The web site "lies". It wouldnt let me build the Almond due to its non-avail on the training wheel unit. BUT, dealer site let me build it. Go to the dealers and use their 'puter (if they will let you or ck with one of the sales types that post here). They can get it listed like you want it but if the build is not possible it will also say. See sig for my info... . 4x2 long bed, 4door 3500,single rear wheel. Of course things might change for 04's.

Traded my chrome grill out for the ST and I think it looks better (the SO likes it too, + we got comments from others that the black grill looks sharp). Can always paint it to match later if it starts to look "bad". ;) ;)

The puter at D. C. store lied also. said no long bed 3500 single rer wheels. Sales manager said thats BULLxxx . That the computer specs were wrong because he had ordered and sold them before and I saw them on the lot several months ago.

Oh man I wonder what the dealer would do if I don't take the 2500 model??? I didn't sign anything but I gave them 500 on a CC. I really wanted the 9900GVW for a future doghouse ;) (slide in camper).

Your way to nice!!! If I were you I would be irate with the dealer. I would give them a call first thing in the morning a tell them to go find the truck you want and if they do then they can move your deposit over to that vehicle if they don't you will cancel the deposit and find a dealer that wants your business.

Yeah but it was not their fault I walked in with a printout from the Dodge website and said that is what I what, here is the price the credit union dealer will give me but he is 30 miles away can you match it? they said they would match it and said they needed the 500 before ordering. I will give up the 500 to get the truck I want but I don't want to. Also I don't know if there is still time to order a 03.

I wanted to order one and was told no orders at all for now. Revambing assy line for new model year. But 3500 srw are built and info was wrong. Was told no orders for 8 weeks or so.
