Help me spend $10k

Aloha! Here is the story gentlemen. I recently won through a drawing a new PT Cruiser. Needless to say i took the cash value of 20K. Im a single guy, have no bills or debt, and want my truck to go fast. Here is the problem. I have a stock 01. 5 ETC, with 4:10,and single cab 4x4. Im not a mechanical guru, i can do somewhat complex things but i usually end up with extra pieces after the rebuild. I want my truck to run low 14's, high 13's, and be able to tow my livestock trailer on the weekends. I have been a lurker now for sometime, being how my experience is limited but now i am asking for help. Being out in the middle of the pacific adds to the challenge but thats ok, gotta pay the price to live in paradise. I know that the first thing i need is a transmission. Can i get a clean swap? I only have 25k miles on mine right now and it has performed flawlessly so far. Without getting into a transmission war does any company have a complete transmission to swap? So now what about fuel, what kind of upgrades to the delivery system needs to happen. I know i will need a fuel/timing box and injectors too, i dont care about smoke but i will be towing quite a bit. What kind of turbo would best suite my needs now? Im sure a 4 inch exhaust will be in order too and some sort of air cleaner for the EGT's. Am i missing anything else. .

Take it slow for me guys, im old enough to know better but still to young to care, as they say ;)





Am i asking to much, or is this something that can be done for around 10k?

First off call Rod at wildcatdiesel and he will point you in the right direction. He is the most honest guy i know of that deals in performance parts. As far as trannies go,do your research on all of them. I going to add some links to this post. First off get rid of that stock exhaust and get a new air intake system then the sky is the limit.

Buy a beater (94 in this weeks paper for $2800) strip it, have cage welded in, buy Nascar truck body (call Garmon Diesel Performance) do some work on engine, and transmission, then as more money frees up, make it faster. Leave your daily driver to do what you bought it for and run in the 11's for $10K.

No youv'e got it all wrong. Speed doesn't kill, the sudden stop does. :D



My 1st list for daily driver/racer would be.

1. SBC Clutch

2. 5" exhaust, no downpipe needed (you'll see why in a second)

3. Skip aftermarket intake (wait a second)

4. Showerhead injectors of your choice (Big or Extra Big:D )

5. Twin Turbos (require 5" exhaust and won't work with aftermarket intake.

(Read Now Aproaching 10 Grand)

6. Upgraded Intercooler boots.

7. I almost forgot to upgrade the fuel system and O Ring the head (port and polish if you can afford it).

8. A cam if you still have any dough left.

Now surpassing 10 Grand

9. Gear Vendors/US Gear Overdrive

10. 3. 73 gears and Locker.

11. BD Short Shifter

Oops I forgot about your computer(fueling and timing)

My 2nd List

$10k to BOMB your truck? If you spent $2k on the gold plated transmission work, and another $3k on the engine, I think you will be to the point of not having enough room on your island to really enjoy your truck. :D

1) transmission I would say talk to Rod and Wildcatdiesel he will steer you right.

2)Proper gauges, Boost/Pyro/Fuel Pressure/Trans Temp

3)EDM injectors Stage 3 is about max for street if you don't like alot of smoke TST powermax 3 stacked wit Edge EZ

4)Intake I hear the Scotty 2 Sucks COOOOOOOOL air

5)Turbo get a B-1 Quickspool

6)Exhaust 4" all the way back

7)O-Ring the head

8)Get a Piers Ported head and cam shaft

9)Drugs if you wish or larger injectors if you need more

This will run you around 7K + labor and your will have around 450 HP and one of the most streetable ricer killers around. Towing will also not be a problem. Just my $. 02 worth.

Jetpilot is right just add a Scotty II and B1 kwickspool or twins would be the cats meow and you will be close to 500 hp JMHO.

You are correct on the twins..... I guess if one could do most of the labor on their own (this would offset the funds needed for labor on the installed items) then a set of the new PDR-Twins would really be the ticket. Of course this would allow for bigger injectors to be used with the same egt's so one could be looking at a 550-600 HP ricer killer tow rig :eek:

what is the expense of shipping your truck stateside , round trip... might be easier to do that... . Bill and Piers are very close to each other... ship to Piers in Washington state and have him do his magic and then he will drive it to Bill and do transmission [and get it properly adjusted]. . drive back to Piers and ship it back to you.

If you send the truck to Piers and then to Bill you should be looking at 650-700 with twins. Call Piers and Bill you might find a dealer on the islands that is knowledgeable and able to do the work.

Thanks for t he reply's. As to shipping my truck up there, that might be a good idea, it will cost around a grand each way, the problem is it takes about a week and a half to get it there and back. I didnt even think about looking for dealers and installers over here <----- :rolleyes: I guees my next step is to call and talk to someone in the know about actual pricing. Just picked up an EZ over the weekend for $429 with shipping, i wish i would have never put that thing on... cause now i need more!!

Anybody know or hear of installers or dealers over here?... ...
