OK, I was a member here a while back, and have recently rejoined the party. All this time I have been studying various posts to get an idea of my next power mods. I think I have a list of items, but if I could get some sound advice regarding the best approach and which vendor is most likely to be of the most assistance...

So I have some $$$ that the missus is allowing me to spend on the truck. :-{} As you can see in my sig, I have done some work but I need more power :p. Here is what I have determined should be best for me:

Turbo - HTB2 14/62

F1 injectors (130 or 150 hp?)

pulse manifold

intake elbow (ATS)

banjos

Smarty

4" exhaust

I do a bit of towing about 1 - 2 times a month, generally no more than 5K lbs, but sometimes it could be more like 8K lbs. I intend to leave the existing mods in place. Future plans may include propane and/or meth.

My biggest concern is whether the turbo is right for me and which injectors I should settle on. With the comp on full, I anticipate around 425 - 450 hp total (correct me if I am wrong), which would be about right for the turbo. Although, if I turn down the power on the comp (for towing, etc), then will I have too much turbo? Also, with this set up, will I have enough turbo to use the fuel of the Mach 4s, or will I see better use of the Mach 3s?

And finally, who would stock all these various components so I can work with one supplier?

Thanks

upgrade to the drag comp throw some I. I dragon flows in there and a 66 phat shaft turbo , some studs, and you will be well at or above what you need.

Comp + Mach 4's + 62mm turbo = 500-525 RWHP. This si a great combo, we set guys up with this all the time. I would change it up a little.

62mm turbo

FASS

4" exhaust

Mach 4's

AFE intake

Manifold

Smarty

Drop the Intake Elbow and banjos.

The best mods for a guy who tows, but loves to play is a smarty added to your comp. I think the dragon flows by industrial injection are great, but I recently stepped down to their [125hp] 4 flow "dragon flies" & dropped egts by 200* & added a smarty to boost my power back up. It was a great step..... the dragon flows were a bit smokey @ low boost. The 4 flows give no smoke at low boost & the power is comparable to the dragon flows, but less smoke/heat. Industrial really has their stuff together on injectors... smooth power & idle better than stockers to boot. I've tried every turbo that HT has to offer in 62 & 64 compressors & would definately go with a Super Stock 62 if you want to get that trailer moving..... unbelievable spoolup & I mean lightning fast. The head should be oringed & studded for sure. Hope this helps.

I run the Mach 1. 6 now with a HTT 62/12 turbo. . ATS manifold. . Edge drag. . DTT trans. . Not sure what it HP it's making now but with Mach 4 truck dynoed 522hp. She still will run 8. 40s in 1/8 mile.

I appreciate the advice everyone. What amount of work is involved with the head studs and oring? I don't have machine shop close by...

I'd suggest a Goerand Transmission up grade - - Its just a matter of time, with the upgrades you have done and planned you will need it

If you don't have a machine shop close that can do it you would need to remove the head and ship to someone who can o-ring it. With the studs you should bottum tap the the holes in the block.

Contact Floor It Diesel Performance, he can handle EVERYTHING on your list, to include o-ringing the head. 785-842-8545. Ask for John, he is also a member on here by the handle "Floor It".

As far as injectors go with the F-1 stuff, Don's product is way above and beyond comparison.
