Just got truck back home today after finishing working on it started fine for last 2 weeks when I went to move it parked in front of my house and now starter wont turn over all I get is a click . Could the starter taken a dump ?#@$%! If it wasn't for bad luck I'de have no luck at all .

Double check conections at battery. Had similiar problem even though terminals were clean an snug. Diesel starters draw so much that snug isn't good enough, need to be tight. I like to be able to quickly remove one in case of the notorious Dodge fires. should go to a quick disconect, but it would probably corode also.

funny thing is I started it and drove it 30 miles back to home and now it wont start but head lights are strong ?what do I check next I have a feeling starter took a dump I did some heavy blasting trying to clean underside of oil from my vacume pump leak . so I think I'm going to lean tward a bad starter . Thanks for the thoughts I will let you know what I found .

You try: beating on the starter with a hammer, then attempting to start, jumpering the positive terminal and solenoid (small) terminal of the starter (the two posts on it) with a screwdriver? First one would tell ya your brushes have turned to gun powder. Second would tell ya you got an electrical issue, such as bad starter relay or ... . ??

These starters are easy to repair and can be done MUCH cheaper than a rebuild or new starter. Just gotta have a good starter/auto electric shop nearby. . otherwise, drop some dough on a rebuild or new one.
