Hello All-

My brother is ready to purchase or order a 2001 or 2001. 5 RAM and we could use your help and suggestions on the following:

1. Will the 2001. 5 have 4 wheel disc brakes?

2. Will the motor have more HP/Torque vs the 235/460 in the 2001 AT's?

3. What has been the length of waiting on an order for a 2001 AT?

4. 3. 54 or 4. 10's? I know this has been debated alot and on the 12V's, a 3. 54 was the rear axle of choice, on the 24V I'm not sure. He will be towing an 8,000 (dry) 5vr.

5. How much more $$, will the 2001. 5 cost?

6. Do you think the current $1,000. 00 & $300. 00 rebates be extended.

I have tried to talk him into a 6spd/HO, but it is out of the question as the wife will be driving it also, and she does'nt want to shift.

Thanks to all for the help!

<font color=blue>Heres a few answers :
<ol type="I">
[*]Yes the 2001. 5 will have 4 wheel disk brakes.
[*]I believe with the Automatic it stays at 235hp/460.
[*]No idea on waiting time 8 to 12 weeks is my guess
[*]4. 10's are better suited with the automatics, I suggest going and driving both a 3. 54 and a 4. 10 geared truck so you can match it with YOUR personal preference.
[*]Each "Yr Model" it goes up a couple hundred or so.
[*]Possibly, there is always some kinda "Sale" it seems, just buy the truck and be prepared to NOT get the rebate, if you get it then great, theres your first $1000 for BOMB'ing!

These are my 2¢ worth.

tschwab, my 01. 5 HO 6 spd was ordered on 7/11 and arrived at the dealer on 8/07. It has 4 wheel disc and 3. 55 gears. I personally wouldn't even consider the 4. 10's unless I was planning on towing a lot more weight. The 3. 55's are much better for empty highway driving and will still pull 8000 lbs with no problem. A VA box or other slight mod could be added to help out with the load if it were needed. If the wife doesn't want to shift gears she probably wouldn't like the feel of the 4. 10's either. At 75-80 mph, you feel like you are at WOT. If i'm not mistaken, the new auto's are rated at 235/460. As for pricing, my new 01 actually cost me $500 less than my 99 auto did. The trucks were equiped identical with the exception of the HO 6 spd which costs more than than the auto option on the 99. I was lucky enough to get $1500 in rebates and had a $50 over invoice deal. They are both great trucks and I have not had a problem with either. However, I am really enjoying this HO 6 spd. Good Luck.
