Other Cummins sizes

I'm Trying to combine a new Cummins 3. 3 4BT with a GM 700R4 transmission. Does anyone know what bellhousing will work? Does anyone make custom bellhousings? I've got to get a solution pretty quick, and for now I'm lost. . The Cummins dealer told me an SAE #3 would work. . HELP... .

I didn't mention what it's going in. . The 3. 3 4BT is going in a lifted Suzuki Samurai. I had planned on going with a 38 to 40 inch tire, though I changed my mind. . I ordered a set of 35x12. 50 Mickey Thompson Baja claws for it yesterday. . We don't know wether to run the 700 automatic or the 200. . The shop that's putting it all together has the 700 already, though he just told me a 200 is shorter, and could be a better choice. .

I can't wait to see what kind of mileage it gets. . It's the 85 HP at 2600, and 214 or 215 TQ. . I've got a 35 ready for it already though. . haha. .

Thanks Scott for the adaptor and starter. . Jamie at Avant diesel knew exactly what else was needed. The only thing he didn't know for sure was if the 3. 9 adaptor would work for the 3. 3. . He hadn't seen a Cummins 3. 3 yet. . I wish I knew for sure. . Anyone know?

that sound like an awesome project how expensive was the 3. 3? should get great mileage with the suzuki being very light. A freind of mine has a 4b in a Scout 800/rockbuggy and we wheeled all day in moab on 4 gallons. Got to finish my 4b powered truck so I can go play with him next spring. keep us posted on you results

The 3. 3 is a brand new engine still on the crate. . Came with a 2,000 hour warranty. I called a cummins dealership, and they wanted $4,375 for the turbochared 85 hp 215 tQ motor. I saw one on ebay, and it was I believe $3,750. I bought mine from Southeastern Diesel sales in North Carolina. I got it for $3,000 plus $304 for shipping. . We'll see how it comes together. The same shop that built my 95 dodge is building the Samurai. I had planned on going with 38-40 inch tires, though the largest factory built lift kit he could find would only completely flex with a 35-36 inch tires without a body lift. I ordered 35x12. 50 baja claw radials on 15x10 rims. The rearend is a 9'' and the front is a 44. .

Well, it looks like the 3. 9 adaptor doesn't bolt right up. . It seems that it shouldn't take much to make it work though. . The flywheel hasn't come in yet, so we'll see what that's gonna take. .

hey do any of you know where you can get a flywheel for a six bt to hook up a chevy five speed thanks tony

The adapters from the old p-30 bread trucks will fit a 6bt or 4bt (the adapters are interchangeable with both both engines). I had several of them before moving. I think I'm down to 2 now\, one will be for sale shortly, just need to find the dodge bellhousing parts I'm looking for to replace it.

I have a 4bt bellhousing adapter , starter, and flywheel designed for a GM transmission. It had a sm 465 behind it, but it will fit to any GM bellhousing or transmission. The only thing you need to get is a clutch and pressure plate. (the one in it is good, but I have no idea how many miles are on it, so I promise nothing to its life left. The flywheel is fine, starter ring is in very good shape.

If you have a GM 5 speed that is a NV-4500. You can save yourself alot of headache and just buy the parts for a dodge nv-4500 setup from a junkyard etc. The only thing you'll need to change on the transmission is the input shaft which unbolts and slides out with no special tools or skills. The Dodge bellhousing setup will allow for a much larger clutch without any custom machining etc.

I'm in Montgomery Alabama now, need to update my signature still.

Do a search for Avant Diesel Salvage. . It's located in Georgia. They should have the parts you need. . Ask for Jamie. . Good luck. .
