Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Help! Need a source for a NV5600!!

Been looking for a 2 wheel drive 5600 for a swap for months!! Anyone know were I can find a good used or reman?? Problem I have had is the reman places want big $$$ for the core which since its a swap I do not have. Also what is involved with taking a 4x4 trans and making it 2 wheel drive? THANKS, Karl

Karl, I don't think the trans cares whether is 4wd or not. But the Tcase does. I assume you don't have a Tcase. Probably just have to get your drive shaft lenght changed. Shortened I would guess. It should bolt up OK.

The 4WD and 2WD versions are definately different. The 4WD has a tailhousing with the round 6bolt pattern for the 241 t-case and the 2WD has an output with either a slip yoke or fixed yoke (never looked under a dodge 2wd). You should be able to change tailhousings easily but it probably will require a new mainshaft too...

I have a 5600 out of 1999 60,000 miles it is a 4X4 real clean working OK at the time it was pulled. Let me know if you are interested.

the trans out of a 4x4 wont work in a 2wd truck. The trannies are longer.
