Help - Need to borrow a trailer in Idaho...

Hey guys. I just moved to Idaho from Alaska. My Jeep was shipped and I drove the truck down. Well the Jeep is sitting in Seattle, and I have to go get it.



I could fly up and drive the Jeep down, but the Jeep is on 36" Swampers which aren't balanced that great and I get around 10 mpg or so with the Jeep... Worst case I will go that route, but I'm trying to avoid it.



My plan was to rent a trailer and go up there with the truck. Well UHaul is the only place I can get a trailer, and they want about $300 to do a 1 way from Seattle to Idaho. HOLY COW!



I was wondering if anyone living in Idaho... I'm in Mountain Home... would have a trailer I'd be able to borrow. I'd give a donation, $$, beer, food, etc...

or If someone is coming down from WA to/thru with an empty trailer, I'd be willing to pay a resonable rate.



I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping. My # is (907) 830-2812. I'm looking to get the Jeep by mid-Nov. I need to find a place to live and get settled in before anything.

I'm passing through Mountain Home in late NOV from Yelm WA on my way to NC with an empty 24' enclosed car trailer. The only problem I think may be the height of the jeep. Seattle is about an hour north of me. I'm borrowing the trailer so I don't know offhand how tall it is, but I think its somewhere around 7 feet. Maybe we can work something out.

If it doesn't work out with Mark, you might try a local rental with U-Haul in Mountain Home, assuming the truck is already there and you're driving the round trip anyway. Local is usually much cheaper if you will do the whole trip in a day or three.



Double-check that U-Haul's trailer will accommodate the customized Jeep. When I tried to rent one of their tow dollies to tow a K5 Blazer with stock tires, they said the track was too wide (on the Blazer). Their trailers may or may not have similar limitations.



I hope it works out with Mark, because you're much better off paying part of the one-way cost than all of the round trip cost for running the truck.

livetodrive... yup, just what I'm planning now.



I talked to a small Mom and Pop U Haul place Friday and the guy there told me to do it that way. $50 a day, so I'm figuring I should be able to do it in 2 days. About 500 miles from Seattle to Mtn. Home cost $300, but 1000 miles. . Mtn Home to Seatle and back costs $100. haha.



I "think" the width will be ok, though I don't remember for sure how wide my Jeep sits. I measured it a while back, but I never wrote it down.



I had one place say my Jeep was too heavy for the trailer and also too wide. The mom and pop place looked in the book for me and said stock it'd be fine. So the the heck?

Well to follow up on this, come to find out a fellow Jeeper from Fairbanks is here in Mountain Home. I didn't really know him in Alaska, but he got ahold of me this weekend and we spent a few hrs b/sing in his garage...



Anyhow, he's got a nice (almost new) trailer that he said I could borrow Oo. I'll probably drop it off with a case of beer or something at the very least.



I'd like to buy one later one, but right now I just can't afford it. I found one on the "Lemon Lot" on base for $800. I'm not sure who built it, but they need lessons in welding. Also it had mobile home axles with no brakes. I'm not sure that's even legal?
