Got the new torque converter in and I'm ready to tighten down the bolts from engine to automatic transmission but I don't have the torque specs. I have the other torque specs that I need. Anyone have a shop manual to look in???

THANKS!!!

Steve

I'm not totally clear on this, but according to the shop manual:

Torque converter-to-driveplate bolts to 35 ft. lbs.

Cross member bolts to 50ft lbs.

Driveplate to crankshaft bolts to 55 ft. lbs.

etc... .

I don't see a "housing to engine" specification... .

Here's the solution to any AT question: Call Bill Kondolay! :D :D

I think he left his number at his shop for you on your last post... .

Steve, I looked all over for a spec and can't find one anywhere. The only thing I could find was in the manual transmission section where it gives the clutch cover to block specs at 33 ft/lbs for a 3/8" and 50 ft/lbs for 7/16". Good luck.

"Tight" is the torque spec. I just run myne in with the 3/8 drive ingersol rand impac. and came back and checked it in a week. I use my impac everyday so I feel that i can trust it.

just my 2 cents

THANKS!

Thanks guys. I'm all done! I torqued the transmission to engine bolts to 50 pounds. Hope that is enough. This is one project that I wouldn't want to do very often.

The DTT TC is awesome!

Torque

You probably got right in the middle. In the front of the manual it lists torque for different size bolts. It's probably a 12 mm bolt, torque into cast iron, 55ft. lb. or a 7/16"_14 which is 45ft. lb.

torque specs

I work in an auto transmission shop and the only torque spec I've ever heard of is T. I. S. ... (till the impact stops) meaning Run them in until the impact stops... not overtightening untill it strips the threads nor loose so they vibrate back out... I'd say you're on the loode side of this spectrum... you might wanna tighten them with a long extension and a flex socket, because diesels vibrate more than gas engines... anyway hope it stays in
