Coming home from work today I down shifted into third then as soon as I started to accelerate BANG truck stumbled then shut down. Engine light came on but I couldnt see any codes by doing the key thing. Fuel pressure was good at the time... ..... well ten minutes prior I wasnt watching the gauge. I checked under the hood everything was intact so I tried rolling it over it wanted to start but was acting like it wasnt getting fuel... ok vp44 im thinking. But what would have caused the loud bang? Truck was towed to my dealer and they will be lookin at it tomorrow if it is the vp44 I was thinking on getting the hrvp44 what are you opinions?

Thanks guys

By the way it was my 99 that is dead. :{

Me Too...any more diagnostic

same thing happened to me this morning... shifted into 4th on a 4-lane was accelerating gently, heard a bang, the engine stumbled shook and shuddered at 300rpm for about 10 seconds then died. Fuel pressure from the FASS is good, everything appears intact. i do not have a MIL (check engine) light, and can't seem to read the ECU with a OBD II reader... don't think i have the right combination of interface and protocol. the truck will crank, but will not even try to fire.

so was it the VP44, if so what was the diagnosis?

please help, i am out of warranty, and have to do everything myself, don't want to have to replace un-nessary parts.
