FASS question

I’m assembling parts for a common twins configuration using an HX40/BHT3B. I want to get the oil lines for the turbos made up ahead of time. Can someone here that’s done this tell me what lengths they had them made and what they did for the ends? Were 90* elbows used on either end like the stock one at the turbo? Can the stock line for my current HX40 work when its relocated higher on the engine?

Thanks,

-Jay

Thanks, Rick. I'm well aware of Rip's site. But admittedly its been a few months since I've visted. It appears he's added a few things.

His HT3B oil line appears to solve that question.

But I still wonder if the stock line will work on the top turbo once the manifold is flipped and the turbo is mounted higher.

Thanks,

Jay

j, take a look at my gallery. i used a stock line to feed my primary. on the turbo end i used a *i think* a JIC *90 fitting. i'll see if i can dig up some old pics and figure it out. the stock one is also still in use on the top turbo as well. are you putting anything between the manifold and turbo? i just have a 1/2" plate. going by memory, i'd say that it would work even better if you had it rigged for an external gate.

Dave,

Thanks for the info. It looks like the original line will still work - at least it did in your case. Maybe the easiest would be to go with that and order the line for the big turbo from Rip. Then if the original line is still a bit limited, I can have one made up. But it will hopefully at least get me going.

As to the spacer between the manifold and turbo, we're thinking of having the manifold machined off and mounting the external 'gate right to the manifold. The details are all kinda in Nathan's head.

Sorry you didn't make it to the dyno day. We missed you. Maybe the next one.

Yes, the stock line will work on the top turbo. It does with my setup and I use a plate in between the charger and the manifold.

Grafting the external gate directly into the manifold is definately trick!!
