Installed a Nordskog fp gauge,& installed 2 sending units but cant get them to work properly. I made a bracket to hold the 2 sending units & made some extentions to come of my braided fuel line setup. Made sure I had a good ground for the gauge & good connections for the other connections, then fired her up. At first the needle moved to 6 then back to zero & stayed there,so I attached a temporary ground lead with aligator clips from the sending unit to the negative side of the battery which then made the needle peg over to 15 & there it stays evenat wot. Am I missing something here ,do I need a better ground to the sending unit or somehting. I,m at a loss here as this is the second set of sending units & gauge i,ve installed with the same results . The 1st set I bought used ,so I figured I had a bad gauge or sending units. Hope you more electrically inclined can give me a clue here.

Thanks in advance. Ian

FP ?

Ian

I put my FP gauge on a while back and also had that problem. . I used a Westach unit with their sender, and mounted in on the new column pod from Genos... . The Pod is another story... I got no reading at all... one lead for the sender goes to hot. . the other lead goes to ground... then heres the kicker... I also had to ground the case of the sender!!... Hose clamp, and wire around the clamp... Also used Ray's bolts with a coupla' mods... I esed the OEM bolts at each schrader hookup, but I drilled them out to the same size as Ray's... ... ... ... Liiks way stock and the dealer won't suspect any fuelingup. .

Got a lift pump warranty issue for another thread... .

To the top.

Tried grounding the sending unit ,still cant get a consistant reading Had to replace the lift pump today as the oem died which would explain why i wasnt getting a reading before.

After installing the lift pump I did get a reading of 13 which did drop a little whilst driving. Then stopped the truck & the gauge just on 0 & hasnt moved since. Was wandering if you guys with the aeroquip or xrp fuel fittings had any problems getting consistent readings . Just clutching at straws here, i,ve tried everything i ca think of & have read about. excuse the pun but i,m stumped.

Ian - I have Westach like CCahill has. I grounded the case of the senders and one of the posts on the sender. Grounding both is shown in the install instructions. I also grounded the gauge to the SAME ground as the sender(s). I did this because the wire I ran to the gauge just hapened to have 2 conductors. It shouldn't matter ground should be ground. . But this is the only thing I can come up with. Did you ground your gauge to the truck body or tap into an existing wire?

Chuck

Chuck ,I grounded the gauge to the truck body ,so I know i,ve got a good ground there & I also grounded the the sending unit case to the truck body but havent grounded the post as well . I,ll try that tomorrow, hopefully that will be it.

Thanks Ian

Ian --- What about the switch you are using to switch between pre and post filter? Did you try and take that out of the circuit?
